It kind of makes me sad to see this happen, but it's still fun.

I'm surprised how well the gamegear stood up. :)

I saw a more recent version of this idea, but I can't remember where. It involved a video of some girl with a fake accent torturing the xbox, gamecube, and ps2. I'd like to see that one again :)

Wha? This is brutal! NSFW please!

It's their money, time, ect. so they can do whatever they want. I think it's a waste though if those are working systems or have parts that could be spared.

In their defence, the date stamp on the page is 10/26/00 - so a lot of these systems weren't classics yet.

That was on X-Play, with Morgan Webb as some doctor or scientist.

Man, that was one of the stupidest system durability testes ever. What gaming system out there is actually going to stand up to a sledge hammer? A friggin automobile can't even stand up to a sledge hammer beating!

Call me shallow but senseless destruction of gaming systems still piss me off. What a waste of stuff…

Especially the NES...why destroy a NES? They’re happy little guys… *Goes over and gives his NES a hug*

I dunno, I've wanted to sledge hammer mine many times.

*Loads 31-in-1 pirate cart*
*NES power LED blinks uncontrollably*
*NES screen turns blue*

I feel sorry for all those systems...

Very entertaining - I love how she drops the 20 lb weight on the xbox, and the xbox isn't even phased :D

Holy shit, the Game Cube takes all of those beatings and keeps running.

Gee, the PS2 doesn't even survive the first round... no big surprise there.

I hate it when people destroy systems like that. Why not donate them to a boys and girls club or something like that where they can be used .

Sometimes sacrifices must be made in the interests of science. These studies answer very important questions. For instance, now you know that if you're going to drop a system 25 feet onto the ground, try your best to make it a gamecube :D

Couldn't have happened to a crappier set of consoles ;-)

and I don't even know why they even bothered using a ps2, if you sneeze near that thing it breaks ;-)

Poofta!

Back in '99, on hot summer days, I used to get pissed on a box of cheap wine on my deck looking over my freshly mown lawn, golf club in hand, a Genesis on the green. I take a good wig of that cheap wine and SWING.
Smash! It felt really good to cull that crap from my collection. I quit drinking, and now I don't smash my unwanted systems anymore ;)

I remember one time I was playing Clayfighters for the SNES. It was being cheap. I mean REALLY cheap. I pulled the game out of the system, threw it against the wall, picked it up, went outside, threw it 20 feet onto the lawn, ran at it and jumped on it and stomped on it like 10 times. I seem to remember a hammer being involved somehow, but that's kind of blurry.

The damn thing survived just fine. The label was half torn off, but the cartridge itself worked like a charm. I was so pissed off. I would have been much happier if it had blown into a million pieces.

Nothing but laughs to the PS2, PS2 NADARABLE (Not durable - nada - :D )

But i would have expected the xbox to survive longer.

The gamecube, however, is way durable. i wouldn't have expected it so survive that long.

It's called cleaning and lockout chip overriding.

As for the GameCube, it depends on where you hit it. The two little tabs that rock back when the lid is closed (the safety to engage disc spin / read) are REALLY easy to snap off once you get the top of the shell off. The X-Play demonstration shows that the GameCube boots up but not if it actually reads a disc - which I doubt. A severe hit to the case in that area could dislodge one of them easily.

That's exactly what I was going to bring up. When the GC does not encounter an error at initial startup, it will play the unfolding box animation. However, it did not after the final drop, and guaranteed will not read a disc since the lens is at the very least misaligned.
