Does the male link port on the e-reader do anything? I don't mean the female port on the top, I know that's what you use to connect the e-reader to another gameboy or the cube. I'm wondering about the male end by the cartridge connector.

I ask because I tried it in my wife's original landscape GBA and it fits perfectly and works well. When I plug it into my SP, the link port doesn't do a damn thing, just sits there not plugged into anything. But the e-reader works just fine.

So my question is this - Does the male port do anything? Or is it just for increased stability when plugged into an original GBA?

It's so you can use the female link port on the top of the GBA when the e-reader is plugged in. Kind of a go-between, if you will.

Yeah, it's apparently nothing more than a passthrough, since the reader blocks the link port on the original GBA otherwise. When using the e-reader with an SP, simply use the link port on the back of the system like normal.
