I have one of those old commodore monitors (1702 I think) from 1984 with the av connectors in front. Sometimes there will be black horizontal lines on the monitor when a game is beeing played, seems like when there is a bright image on the screen. It flickers on and off for about 3 seconds and disappears for a few minutes. I tried lowering the brightness and it seemed to help a little. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks for the help!!

no, unfortunately i don't, i don't even have a camera.
I could describe it better though:

The bars seem flicker a lot and don't do it all of the time.

...well maybe i can't describe it better. oh, well. Do you think it could be that the video in line is dirty? Or that the monitor is about to go out?

i think i know the problem... here's how to solve it (if it's what i'm thinking of)

AT YOUR OWN RISK:

take the back off the t.v (turned off of cause) locate the suction cup on the tube (don't go near it, and follow the thick red lead from it down to locate the lopt..

now.. there should be 2 pots on that (voltage and focus) they may not be labled.. the one you want is voltage, and it needs turning down..

power up the tv (making sure there's no crap shorting out etc and slowly turn the voltage down until black is black (not greyish) and maybe a bit more to get rid of the lines) then you may need to refocus which is the other pot on the lopt.

done! if this does not work it's gotta be the electrolitics, and prolly not worth messing about with on an old tv set.

just a word of caution, the lopt contains lots of very high voltages which wonna be earthed, and a body is the perfect earth ;) (lethel levels infact) so use an insulated screwdriver and take any other nececerry cautions to avoid contact with any of it, even when it's turned off the lopt will contain high voltage.

reetyho, hope this helps, and like i said before, this is at your own risk, if you kill yourself etc, don't blame me, this site or anything else like that ;).
