I recently came across this item:
LINK (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8270580834)

As you can see, Stadium Events NTSC is in that lot, and the seller doesn't seem to know what she has. I emailed the lady, and actually told her that Stadium Events was rare and valuable game, and offered her $300 for the whole lot. She accepted my offer, and then sent me her address to mail a money order/check.

This is my problem: I do not feel safe sending a random person $300 in the mail. Even though she has perfect feedback, I still don't feel safe sending somebody money in the mail. I asked the lady to set up a private auction for me, but she said that wasn't part of the terms of the deal, or something like that.

What would you recommend I do in this situation? Is there any way I would be able to reclaim my money if this lady rips me off?

eBay isn't going to help you since outside deals violate the eBay TOS. Now that lady knows that cartridge is worth big money and probably thinks you were undercutting her so she may think she could get more for it than $300. I'd watch her auctions to see if it comes up again. All I can say at this point is good luck.

I have decided not to send her any money, and for two reasons:

1) When I asked her to set up a private auction, she refused, saying that wasn't part of the deal. How hard is it to set up a private auction? Not hard at all.

2) Look at her previous auctions. She accepts PayPal. However, she DOES NOT accept PayPal for the auction in question. It seems very strange that a seller would change her selling style for a single auction. Of course, it could be a coincedence, but I wouldn't count on it.

Please, let me know what you guys think. Obviously I want to own myself a copy of the rarest NTSC release at such a low price!

Insist upon paypal payment

Or credit card

Else the deal is off. PP and CC protect you if she's a scammer.

So you're the one who got it !!!!!!!

I also found that lot before the auction ended (as did many of us here I assume). I'm sure many people offered her big $$$ to end the auction early so I'm sure she knows she has something rare! I'm glad to see that it at least went for a decent amount ! :) I'm sure some people were like "I see you have a bunch of common NES games.... I'll give you $80 for them if you end your auction early" That would have really pissed me off to see it go for so little

Anyway, I would NEVER give an amount like that outside of eBay! You should have had her make a special "for (your ebay name) only - 12 NES games" auction that had a BIN for $300.

Good luck! Hopefully the seller is legit !

I hope she rips you off as you are a retard. Way to ruin what could have been a great buy for yourself or someone else.

I missed this post LOL

Good call not sending the money! Tell her you'll pay all the fees for the private BIN auction! If she still says no then forget about it!

Your point #2 would make me run away from the deal x_x

Also, I find it interesting that you joined just to ask this one question.

So you had her cancel her listing and now you changed your mind? That's pretty rude :(

Also, as was already said, cutting a behind the scene deal is against eBay rules. If you want to work within their rules (and get eBay protection) you would have asked her to add a negotiated "Buy it Now" price to the auction and then purchased it from her that way. At least then there would have been a record of your transaction.

As for not trusting her enough to send her a money order; you could ship it to her via Fedex or USP and require a signature on receipt to prove that she received it. It would cost more to send this way but you'd have your proof of receipt.

Ask if you can do a local pickup instead, yea you might live miles and miles away, but if she says no then you know its a scam.

I have to agree though, Im not fond of people asking to end items early. Oh well..

Goodluck

Use Escrow (https://www.escrow.com/index.asp) and offer to pay all the escrow fees, since it will be your idea.
