I normally wouldn't make a post of my own, but I'm curious and would like more information on this item.

I already posted pictures here (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=950025#950025), but here they are anyway.

I'm basically asking for information on who made this item, how old it is (on what year was it produced), its rarity, and any possible links to auctions for the item. I don't know anything about it, and the case has no information whatsoever on who manufactured it. I wasn't sure if the DP guide listed this item or not...

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

i own something very similar to this. sorry, don't have any info. really cheap though, and the fake leather flap cracks and falls apart at the hinge. i am much more satisfied with using normal black sleeves and placing those in a sterilite container.

Don't know who made it but it was a very popular case. Don't see many of them anymore (due to damage and wear) though. This was also the type of case that Christian Slater used to store his games in everyone's favorite two hour add for Nitendo - The Wizard. LOL

The one I have is in excellent shape... looks like it was stored for years before I found it. Other than a slightly crushed side, some light rusting on the metal parts, and some dust inside the thing, it's in great shape.

We need The Wizard on DVD. ;_;

These things are usually pretty common around here; never got around to picking one up, though...

I'd love to pick up old official game holders for my loose carts. I used to have an NES one when I was a kid. I also made my own SNEs one out of wood. It looked like hell but did a good job :)

I was at a pawn shop the other day and found an official genesis cart holder. I was going to buy it, but it was so dirty and filthy that I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to get it clean.

On the upside, it didn't stink ... too bad :embarrassed:

I have that one, which holds 15 games and another similar one that holds 10. The one that holds 10 is shinier with a different texture design.

I just threw two of em out a month ago because they were so dirty and I didnt feel like cleaning them.

Doubt they are worth much though, could be wrong.

Yeah, these are really common, but not as common as the hard-shell version that holds 24 games (I think 24, could be less). I've bought/sold a bunch of these over the years. If you were to sell one in good shape, you'd get AT MOST $10 for it. I see these all the time in thrift stores and I've just been keeping them for my own loose cart collection. The above information about Toys R Us and the 1989 release date is correct.
