Didn't see a topic about this one yet, I have a gift card to BB and I was thinking about picking this one up over the weekend. Has anybody played it on both PS2 and Xbox? I have either console and was wondering which one to get, I am assuming the Xbox has better textures. What are your like/dislikes about the game? Sounds like a lot of fun, let me know what you think.

Haven't played it on either, but the rule of thumb is that the Xbox version is the one to get.

infact the only game I can think of that was inferior on Xbox was the crummy port of the crummy game Metal Gear Solid 2.

I haven't played it yet, but I heard it's very short (about 10 hours) and there isn't much do to in the free roaming city (ala The Getaway). I'll probably wait until the price drops.

I've been playing it for the past several days as I've been home sick from work.

It's Grand Theft Mafia all the way. However, as a huge Vice City fan, I don't mind.

I'm going to try to finish it.

Exactly what I'm doing. I "acquired" the pc version but I don't care for games like this on pc, so I'll wait for the 360 version as well.

*RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE*

Just got done with this one and I posted my impressions here. (http://captainwrong.blogspot.com/2007/01/godfather-game-ps2-review.html)

Short version: it's fun if you're into the movie, but I'd wait to see how the PS3/Wii versions come out at this point in time. Otherwise, fuggadaboutit.

Semi-related tangent here:

How about the Scarface game? Is it any good? How playable is it? And like the godfather game, is it basically Grand Theft Mafia starring Tony Montana?

I bought the 360 version late last year. The story itself was indeed 9-10 hours, but there was plenty of extra stuff to do. Family compounds (huge gang wars at each rival families manor), contract hits, prize fights, businesses to extort, rackets to take over. Even banks to rob. Some people may not even bother with all that extra stuff, but the meat of the game is in doing so. I had great fun completing the game. The only thing I didn't do was collect the hidden film reels, cause that sucks :).

I THINK it took me around 35 hours to do all that, give or take 1 or 2 hours.

I'll let you know. I'm probably jumping into that next.

Id get the Xbox over the PS2 one. I played the death out of the 360 version. Game is a lot of fun.

I didn't think too highly of it. I would wait till the prices drop or something ;)
