View Full Version : A crazy competition idea I have...

I was just thinking about game competitions, as I just got ahold of a Starfox Super Weekend cart. I was also thinking about re-living the past and getting a weekend together, once a year, to compete.

Now, this would have to be a competition between all Starfox Super Weekend owners, although something could be arranged for emulation users too...but let's not get into that right now.

The way it would work is that legitimate SFSW owners would pay into a pot, maybe $20, once a year to enter. The players would then play SFSW this specific weekend (to be determined) and try to get the absolute highest score before 12PM Sunday. From there you would submit pictures of your TV showing the high score, and the highest score would win the pot.

This would really be a cool thing IMHO. What do you guys think?

how many people here own that super rare game? I don't. Hell I don't even own StarFox yet. I need to get that one soon. :embarrassed:

Well, that is why I say perhaps others can join a semi-comp using emulation. If myself and four others own the actual cart, it would be $100 pot win for one high score. Maybe some other prize for the emulation score.

Perhaps I should do a roll call on all that own this cart.

If not, even through emulation, it might be a fun competition. I just wouldn't lay the cash pot into that.

I know I'm mistaken, but it seems like you're about the 3rd person to just get this game.

And I think your idea is a grand one. I'm no good at Starfox though.

If that is true, there's only 1997 copies out there that need to be found! :)

Well, good idea, but maybe it'll wait for awhile. Still, the competition idea in general is nice. I remember doing this with magazines from the era. You know...sending pics of your TV with a high score. I always thought it was a fun thing to do.

Sounds like a great Idea.

What would be awesome is if some eccentric collector went balls out and gave his/her cart to the winner.

That, my friends, would be some intense competition.

The way cheating was kept non-existant (and I hope it was that way) in the MAME competition last summer was to record video in the emulator of the entire play sequence in the championship rounds. Then the videos were all watched for confirmation. *points at the first item in his inventory*

Cool idea, though I only own the lowly retail version. I remember I was ecstatic when I beat the 3rd path on Star Fox. I was the only kid on the block to do so. I have a feeling it is just as difficult as I remember.

While I'm not crazy over the execution of the plan, the idea in general is a good one. I could see it best at a convention. Be it an official event held by said place, or in a hotel room. It actualy does sound alot more fun then most of the competitions held at conventions as this isnt just some fighting game or DDR.
