View Full Version : Expensive NTSC/J DC games?

I was wondering if any NTSC/J games for the Dreamcast reached the rarefied heights of ridiculous pricing that some of the other system have reached. Last time I checked in Japan, the only game I saw that was truly expensive was the Border Down LE, which was going for around the same price as RSG in the two shops I saw it.

Some of the hardware goes for a pretty penny (Seaman LE console, Divers DC, Sakura Taisen DC), but what about the games themselves? Am I missing something, or do none of the games go for much more than 12-13K yen?

Yeah, people are taking the piss with the price of the Border Down Ltd Ed. on Ebay. In fact, most of the more desirable DC shooters are rising in price from what I've seen.

Not really. There's plenty of games that are rare and expensive (Cleopatra Fortune, Masapey no Choco Marker) but they are the select few. The De La Jet Set Radio LE (http://www.gamengai.com/bn_inf.php?type=etc&id=1226) can fetch some bucks, as can the Dorikore version, which is technically just a reprint w/o the box and shirt.

Well, that's good to know -- I'm planning on rapidly growing my DC NTSC/J collection this summer in Japan and was hoping to do it on the relative cheap. I've been adding to my Saturn collection but man, that gets pretty out there as far as prices go.

I did look on Yahoo JP yesterday and saw a Border Down LE going for 18K. Crazy! It's a great game, but I don't know if it's an 18K great game...

Question: Did people BID on it at 18k? Was it still sealed? I guess I could believe it... it's not a cheap game. I do enjoy it as well, and it doesn't look like it'll be ported to another system.

GL on your DC collection this summer. Will you have a bank account? If so, you can use YJ painlessly, assuming you can converse in Japanese via email. Much cheaper than Akihabara... you can even buy in bulk if you're patient.

And join in the fun on the forums -- I always welcome more sane people!

What the hell? 18.000 dollars?! That's fuckin' nuts if it's true. Do you have a link to the auction? Are you sure you didn't mistaken the yen for 180?

No, I meant 18K as in 18,000 yen.... Trust me, if it were under 10,000 I would have been on it like flies on shit...
