Quick question. I picked up a copy of Castlevania Chronicles pretty cheaply. The catch being that the packaging was in pretty hard shape. The front cover was removed from the manual and glued to a DVD case, likewise the back insert was glued to a DVD case. They came off fine - but obviously are a bit wrinkled and have dried glue on them...

The rest of the manual in intact and the disc is in very good shape. There might be a few light surface scratches, but they are tiny and almost impossible to see. I've played as far in as my skill allowed, and it played fine.

Now, obviously, something like this prevents it from being an Ebay goldmine - but would it still be sufficient for a good trade for one or two common DS games on a message board? Would you expect a place like Gamestop to give a reasonable tradein - given it's rarity and their disregard of packaging condition?

Gamestop wouldn't give you jack if you had a complete, minty Suikoden II to trade in. It's not worth it to trade anything in to a corporate chain store. You're best off with eBay. It's not in collectors condition, but there's always someone willing to pay more for anything there.

You'd have an easier time trying to sell it here, make sure you note the condition and to save you the hassle, people are going to want pictures up front.

Even though the 'rest of the manual' is fine, for collection sake that could be trash, even though all the instructions are there. My copy of Klonoa for PS1 is like that, the front cover ripped off and the rest of it fine. If I were to sell it, that would take a nice bite out of it, but because I'm keeping it I dont mind too much (plus, I got it for $7, so that helps) So, if you aren't intrested in keeping it, I'd say put it up for trade here with a few pictures so people know what they're getting. Again, with such a game some people are like 'ZOMG RARE' and others just want to play it because It's a Castlevania game.

I was originally going to keep it, but truthfully I just don't play my consoles like I used to - so I was thinking if it would bring me a DS game I might go ahead and trade it since that is the system that gets most of my gaming time.

Maybe I'll try posting it here first, I'll take some pictures today. I really hate having to put it up on ebay when I really just want to swap for something else...

If the game was in mint condition you'd be looking at a 40+ buck game on the ebizzle. Since the front cover is removed its value is hurt pretty good. There's no way to replace the manual cover without replacing the entire thing (unless you happen along another manual and just switch it out). A Gamestop/EB trade in would only be for a few dollars... IF they even take it in. Alot of the area stores no longer even carry PSOne games.

You mentioned some DS games, take a look at what they are and what their new/used prices are on gamestop/eb's sites to see if you think its worth it. IMO if you still pull a good 30 bucks worth of stuff (as if you were buying those games used from one of those stores) that wouldn't be a bad deal.
