Is the TI/99 worth collecting for? I have a system and a few games, but I don't play it. I just broke it out a couple of days ago and it seems alright.
Only problem is I don't know what exactly I should look for for Games, playability wise.
Now, before you lock this post, keep in mind that not a lot of people are talking about TI/99 collecting recently.
So this is a 2 parter: Should I collect this system and What games are fun?

Not sure what to say about this machine. I've never played a game on it that made me think "I need to get one of these". It's more of a nostalgia piece than a viable gaming machine IMO.

And Judging by the old post that you put up (2004), I reckon that few people have much interest in it collecting-wise?
I mean, there must be some people who still play games with it?

There are some good games for it, but collecting can be a bitch. There are many hard to find games that tend to go for a lot of money. I also find the market for the games to be global, with many TI collectors in Europe and North America. Therefore, it is not only expensive but difficult ot collect for.
Some games that I really enjoy include Bigfoot (you need the voice synth to really enjoy this), Miner 2049er, Espial, the Atarisoft arcade games are done well, in particular Donkey Kong, as well as the the Funware games Some of the more common games that are fun include Parsec, Munchman and Tombstone City.

Tunnels of Doom = the best TI game there is.
Parsec, Blasto, and Munchman are pretty good, too.

The TI in my opiion is a great system but it all depends on what your goals as a collector are. I enjoy collecting everything video game so for me the TI 994a is a must have regaurdless of how fun the games are - but the system itself is technicly superior to the other machines of the era. However collecting the games is much easier said than done. If you are a die hard fanatic like me then you should go for it because a good TI collection is rewarding and something that not a lot of people now about. The problem is that not a lot of people now about it because there isn't as much of it around - probably because the original price point was $1k. That being said the problem i have is not that the games cost to much its that i cant find them... but when i do there usually pretty cheap. Its not unheard of to see a box of TI junk at a thrift store for $5. I say if your a colector go for it but if you are just looking to play some of the older games that you remember you can find hem a lot easie on other systems and they are still pretty good.

Hey
Besides Parsec and TI Invaders I like playing Car Wars.
My kids like playing a few educational games that use the speech module.
The demon attack for the TI is one of the better "super" versions.
