I just want to know what the hell somebody at Microsoft's ad agency was thinking. This is worse than their "Jump In" commercials. Hell, this is worse than the PSP commercials with the talking mexican balls of pubic hair.

This commercial looks like it had the budget of someone's welfare check, and why does this lady have a white son, asian daughter, and a black son? The laughing at the end looks like they had guns pointed at them and were told to laugh maniacally. To top it all off, the games they picked for the commercial were average or mediocre.

I want to know what the hell Microsoft was thinking, and how this actually helps promote the Xbox? If I hadn't heard of the Xbox before seeing this commercial, I would be scared away.

I dont know how you can consider Star Wars Battlefront 2 average or mediocre but anyways the commercial was stupid. Did you see how at the beggining of the commercial they put in text saying the funbox didnt really exist. LOL

I want the Funbox to put my games in!

I thought the commercial was cheesy-funny but i have to admit the "its not real" comment really took away from the commercial.

Now if they could only make classic funny commercials like what Sega had...

P.S. Methinks Xizer lacks "teh funnay gene" and missed the entire point of the commercial. Honestly, humor is lost on some people.

They are all adopted and the mom is bi-polar. I read about it on the Xbox forums.

Thank you.

Just another horribly stupid XBox related ad (AKA the jumprope XBox360 commercials). I can understand what they're going for but if you're going to pull cliches like that at least make it pay off in the end.

Did you see how at the beggining of the commercial they put in text saying the funbox didnt really exist. LOL

Yeah, but it didn't ORIGINALLY run with that. So the first time I saw the commercial I was thinking "A 10+ games bundle? That's brilliant... Microsoft is showing some new strategy.. wait....... ... nevermind."

The whole lot at xbox forums are bi-polar.

And seem to be 9 years of age.

I kinda like the ad in an "this is so awful it's surreal" sort of way. I also wish that box was real - it'd probably sell decently well.

I personally like the commercial. It definately had me thinking. Whats a funbox? Is battlefront 2 19.99?

Why the weird laugh at the end? Do they represent videogames characters like vampires? As far as the ethnicity of the kids they could be adopted. I have seen commercials alot worse than that one. The funny thing was I would have bought a funbox.

Wow, I actually thought it WAS real, I must have missed the disclaimer. I remember thinking "huh, decent idea, but what a HORRIBLE commercial"

I figured it was real, and would be 10 or so of the platinum hits in a box for around $100 or something. It IS a decent idea :)

I thought the commercial was funny in that cheesy/annoying way. But, ya know, maybe I am the only one who finds multiracial adoption and Nazi like forced laughter humorous.

I just finally saw this last night, and the whole time I'm wondering as to why xbox would do something like that. It felt akward watching it. And the messed up racial family didn't add anything to it either.

Think ill of it if you must but the commercial worked, this thread is testament to that. The recent pursuit of oddball advertising is a welcome change to me, what do you guys want, clips of some kids skateboarding on a half pipe and screaming at the camera, then random boobies? Too predictable.

Remember back when the Genesis was king they made a commercial for Sonic 2 in the vein of those cheesy 'as seen on TV!' type commercials and that was brilliant, the height of video game advertising as far as I'm concerned.

No, i find the intended stupid/cheesy commercials to be a work of art actually. Parody is great and while this commercial doesn't parody something that will make you say "Parody!" it does poke fun at family.

The kids in the commercial weren't supposed to be adopted, they were supposed to be her actual kids. How? Thats part of the absurdity.

I oddball commercials are the most memorable ones anyway.

when i first saw the commercial the first thing i thought was WOOT a sealed 10 pack? FUTURE RARITY

then i saw the disclaimer "this is not a real item" and I just imagined a horde of people crashing stores to get their "super fun pack" or whatever it is. .. funny

Crazy laugh though. I will have nightmares about that mom.

I prefer to think of the PSP mascots as proto-fiddygibbers.

As for the Xbox ad, my wife and I saw it during South Park the other night, turned to each other and said "....the hell?" almost in unison. Then again, we don't have an Ecks Bawks, so we figured we probably missed something.

If people still believe its an actual product even after the disclaimer then my opinon of humanity has dipped even lower.

You beat me to it, man. The commercial did work. Here we are. The commercial is effective in that it gets you to pay attention. I can see how it is annoying, but I did laugh when I saw it. It is definitley SUPPOSED to be stupid.

I don't really see how this commercial can be the "worst game commercial ever"....

that award would have to go to the "Zelda Rap" commercial. Not only is the commercial dumb (the rap) but the "rapping" kid is so over the top dorky that its insulting.

The Funbox commercial is a good commercial, but it'll never be as classic as the "Sonic 2 Infomercial" (like anything could be as good as that one).

wow you guys dont like alot of things no offense ,but it made me think that its kinda like they were poking fun at their own sucess with xbox , as they decided to do a commercial with overly stupid humor , 360s commercial wasnt direct cause they were confident that you would know what it is and would buy it.

I agree. It was SUPPOSED to be stupid. That's what makes it funny. And if the humor is lost on you, it wasn't directed at you. End of sentence.

Oh man, you guys! I love that funbox commercial! That's just flat out funny! When the dude looks at the camera and says, "Or can you?" and then they all laugh, I about died laughing at that. This is by far the funniest game commercial I've seen in some time, and I don't even like Microsoft.

I was a little disappointed the funbox isn't real, though.

It's a brutal commercial. Sure it attempts to be funny, and some people will think it's funny, but personally i don't think it is. Regardless of that, to the people that say "Well it must be working if we're talking about it" NO. It only works if people buy the product because of it. And you can't buy the product because it doesn't exist, which will just upset people. Funny? Maybe. Bad? Utterly

Kid Ice

Terrible.

What, exactly, is being sold here? What about the commercial would make one want to purchase what is being sold?

Yeah, go ahead, bundle a dozen or so X-box games for a decent price and call it a day. That would be cool. Make 'em all 360 compatible and I just might buy one of those things. Better yet, give me the box of middling, outdated games for free.

Is it supposed to make me feel wacky and go out and buy some X-box greatest hits? This is like a seventh grade "make an X-box commercial" project. F-

That Saturn one was ok, not nearly as good as the Genesis commercials though.

Guys, it's just a fucking announcement for the newest Platinum Hits. Sony did the same exact thing when Gran Turismo and whateverthehellothergameitwas went down. It's not selling you anything specific. It's only making you aware the games have dropped in price. Even if they aren't all Xbox exclusives, they're still Platinum Hits now.
