I'm going to be outside of LA (Simi Valley) for work for a couple days in either mid April or the end of May. I will be attending a conference from 9 AM to 4 PM on those days, but after 4 I'm free to do whatever.
I have a company card so I'll probably have a car. What is some fun stuff to do. I'd like it if there were some cool game shops or something to check out, but really any touristy stuff is cool. I've never been to CA and am looking forward to seeing it.
Also, is Simi Valley really close to LA? What type of area is it (rich, bad, etc)?
Errr.. I wasn't sure if I should post this here or over in Off-Topic, so if this isn't the correct location would someone please move it for me? :)
Thanks!

Well first off, welcome to L.A. Simi is actually one of the top three safest cities IIRC in the nation. It is located about an hour away from downtown Los Angeles, and about 10 to 30 minutes from the Valley which is a major part of L.A. county. As for a gamestore, there is Game Dude here's there website http://gamedude.com/ You can get direction from there. They deal with almost all videogame systems starting from NES and on. They also have a few Atari items but not many. The best thing for you also is that it is right off the freeway. :)
There is a lot of other stuff to see here but it all depends on your interests.

Thanks for the info. I think that I'll probably check Game Dude out while I'm there.
As for what I like to do... games (obviously) are my big hobby, but as I've never been, I'd just like to check anything interesting out.
I'm just pissed that E3 is the week before I'm going. I'd be more than happy to stalk the event and wait to get in. :D

Are there any other video game stores that are unique to LA other than Gamedude? In a city that's as big as LA you'd think there would be a lot of them.

There used to be another one in the area but it sucked and their prices sucked and it eventually closed down.

Yeah it just doesn't make sense with a megalopolis as huge as LA and all the gamers there, you'd think there'd be more. Oh well! :(

Cool, I'll have to check it out.
I'll be getting into LAX on a Sunday around 1PM. According to Mapquest, my hotel is about an hour out from the airport. So, I'm going to have quite a bit of time on Sunday to screw around.
I'm definately going to check out Game Dude. The prices there look decent, and it's not too far from where I'm staying.
Thanks for the input... and I'm open for more suggestions. I'm going to have lots of time to kill. :D

You need to be careful with Gamedude. They don't have everything listed on their website. It just means if people sell them those games on a particular day and they have it those are the prices they would sell it for.
