Hi, I'm interested in getting a 360, I have a few questions, If you'd be so kind...
1. If I wait a few more weeks I can get a premium and a game, the only thing I want is the hard drive, should I just get the core and a HD or will I regret not getting the wireless and stuff?
2. I like frag 'em ups on the PC like Unreal and Quake, is Perfect Dark fun like those?
3. Should I just scrap the whole idea and concentrate on the consoles I have now, is the 360 not all that its cracked up to be?

1. Umm why would you get a core and a hd? when a premium also comes with a head set, wireless controller, hd tv cables, ethernet wire? why throw all that other stuff away when its free?
2. Just get Quake 4 and Fry Cry (comes out today) PDZ isnt that great.
3. The 360 is worth every single penny...so buy it!

That's pretty much everything you need to know right there. I just want to emphasize number 2 though. PDZ is definately not a frag 'em up game. Actually, it's kind of bad.

Oh, i was just looking at amazon and you're right, a core and a HD is as much as a Premium, good work!
Quake 4 I have on my PC, and I might get Far Cry, but I still like the idea of PDZ, espeically If I can find it on the cheap.
Thanks for your opinion, i hope to get some more opinions on purchasing a 360 for someone who is pretty much strapped for cash!

Aren't we all man!? LOL
Well, I don't mean to make PDZ sound like a bad game, it definately isn't. Perfect Dark is a great game, but not great enough to be worth $60.00. If you can find it for around $40 - $50 range definately pick it up.
Another great game that has a pretty fast paced multiplayer mode is Call of Duty 2. Plus, they recently updated the game to where you can actually play the game.

Get pdz for like $30 its worth that much at least. Buy a warrenty on it too, either through microsoft or the store you buy it from.
What does being strapped with cash have anything to do with it though?
Either if you get a core + hd or a premium ... you are going to need over $400. If you dont have between $400-$500...then save up and buy it.

Umm... if you're expecting PDZ to be a "frag em up" you are in for a big dissapointment. The gameplay is very very slow compared to Quake and Unreal, hell its slow compared to just about every shooter except for a few tactical shooters.
That aside Darren870 basicly said everything you need to know.

Save the money you were going to spend on PDZ, and buy G.R.A.W. You will like it, I promise. :eek 2:
Ok, I need to stop posting in this thread.

G.R.A.W is more addictive than crack... I will leave it at that, Far Cry, nice, but the online can get repetative. Quake 4 online same as FC. PDZ, a little better, but limited modes online, right now your best bet for online frag fests, G.R.A.W and Call of Duty 2.... two best FPS' on x360 right now.

In case you'd like another opinion...

1. Wait for a premium if you can. The core isn't nearly as good of a deal, but it isn't a bad deal either. If you don't have an HDTV and already have an old Xbox headset, the difference isn't nearly as big of a deal. Either way, they play the games. So yeah.
2. PDZ is a really good game and is a lot of fun, but its imperfections can be glaring for a lot of people - the speed and pacing is a big part of this. Quake4 and GRAW are both great and different, and Far Cry looks promising too. One way or another, you will find something you like a lot.
3. The 360 is, without question, all it's cracked up to be and then some. It does so much beyond just the gaming experience that adds to the experience as a whole. Gamer points, the Arcade, the Marketplace, universal profiles, and the best online gaming service on the planet all come together seamlessly. It's the best system to come along in a long time.

In all honesty, the best $450 I ever spent on a console.
If you like FPS's... Far Cry looks promising. But like a few others, I highly recommend GRAW. And even Call of Duty 2. Just stay away from The Outfit!
Plus, XBL arcade just plain rules.

It's all personal preference. I love my wireless controller and if you have an HDTV it's worth it. Of course if price is no issue and you have a standard def TV then it doesn't matter.
2. I like frag 'em ups on the PC like Unreal and Quake, is Perfect Dark fun like those?
IMO nope.

Oh it's all it's cracked up to be. Great graphics, great games and Live, even silver, is amazing. Best console in years.

Get G.R.A.W. Multiplayer is the most fun I've had yet on an online FPS.

I fighting the urge to buy one very soon, and I still have a few questions myself...so I figured I would just post them here instead of making a new thread.
1. Are the playable demos you can get from Xbox Live free? Also, how many games have demos...theres a few games I'm on the fence about and I don't want to spend $60 for something I won't like.
2. Whats a normal price to pay for one of the XBLA games...also, you pay by points (that you buy in a card) correct?
Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

The demo's are free (seems foolish to charge for them) and there are currently demo's for
PGR3
COD2
The Outfit
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Blazing Angels
Fight Night Round 3
Ridge Racer 6
Kameo
Burnout Revenge
Full Auto
and probably a few i forgot
Arcade games are free to try and cost either 400 points ($5 USD) or the more common 800 points ($10 USD). Although Bankshot Billiards is more.
Points can be purchased in store on a card or straight through XBox Live via a Credit Card.

1. Most of the big names (Burnour Revenge, Condemned, Ridge Racer 6, etc.) have demos for one level or one track. There are maybe 10-15 360 game demos out now. The downloads are free, just take a few hours.
2. $4-10 depending on the game. The billiards one is the most expensive, I think. They also usually have demos you can try for free before spending the points. $8 will get you Smash TV and that stupid Geometry Wars one everyone won't shut up about. You get points through a card purchase at a retail store, of off a CC number which is credited straight to your account.

Buy Geometry Wars Evolved. It's only "stupid" for those that haven't played it more than 10 minutes. It's one of the best games of 2005, and my most played game on 360.

The 360 is like sweet sweet candy. I have sunk about $1400 into the system and games (both disc based and arcade) and I do not regret it one bit. I was not a huge RPG fan but Oblivion has become my current addiction, well worh the price paid. Don't hesitate on getting a 360, you will enjoy every moment.
