Over the weekend, I purchased an original Sega Master System console that is apparently unused, in the suitcase-style box. This set contains the base unit, Light Phaser, RF/AV cables and power supply, and two controllers. The controllers are the kind with the screw-in mini-joysticks. Nothing has been taken out of the plastic (including the screw-in joysticks!). The box is worn and has some black marker writing on it, but it's in decent shape. It all cost me $30.

Now, my dilemma: I already have a Master System, with the gun, cables, and so forth (no box for it though). The controllers aren't the screw-in stick kind, but that's OK with me since I prefer using Genesis pads with it anyway.
I promised my wife I'd sell one of systems to earn back a little of the money I've been spending lately. :) But I'm not sure which one I should part with. The collector in me wants to keep the complete set, but playing it would require opening the package. Normally I'm of the opinion "open the dang thing and play it," but I already have a perfectly good system to play... and it does seem like kind of a shame to break up a "new" set like this.
I think the boxed set would fetch a better price on eBay, but I'm not really sure how big the price difference would be. (I'm not a close follower of the SMS, but the DP Guide indicates the screw-in joysticks are pretty hard to find.)
What do you think?
