I know the guide lists this title as an R8, but at at amazingly low $15 base value. I am assuming it is because it is not a really "wanted" game. But, I am just wondering what you guys think of the R8 status? Have you seen this title in the wild? I know it doesn't show up on ebay often (the USA version that is). The guide states that only 2000 were produced. I have no reason to doubt the guide, but with such a low production you would think this game would be worth MUCH more.

I've seen it in the wild only once.

And yes, I bought it. :D

Sometimes, when games really arn't all that great, even if they are super rare, they just dont command much of a value. Theres little reason to own the game unless your going after some kind of SNES collection. Otherwise it would never be on anyone's play/own list.

I have it for the Genesis and for the 3DO... Kinda hard to believe that it's so common on those systems and yet it's so rare on the SNES... Makes you wonder why, doesn't it?

But more people out there MUST love this for the "playing dressup" feature! LOL

hey zektor, if you're ever looking for Mountain Racing (not the Speed Racer combo) hit me up.

Mountain Racing on its own is still an R8... crazy huh?

If you ever give up on the combo, and just want MR, hit me up.

Mountain Bike Rally on its own is an R8 now? COOL! Now I have two R8's!

PM me with the details my friend :)

As for giving up, NEVER! I am 100% determined to complete this collection! :)

BTW: DP Advance Guide lists the non-combo as an R6, and you can find a few on any given day on ebay as well. Still, kind of rare, but not an R8 AFAIK.

I've been babbling in other threads lately (the finds thread and thr thread about retro game stores that won't sell their boxes) about how, in one week's time, I found two Fun N Gameses (both the SNES version), one Chavez II, and one Aero Fighters in the wild; I bought all of them. I think that they will all go up in value very substantially about five years from now, when the people who grew up with the SNES as their first system have enough money to start collecting complete sets for that system.

Also, did you notice that a forum member recently sold a complete SNES FNG on eBay for over $100?

Ah my bad on the R8 talk... it was 8 or 6 I couldn't remember. I thought R8 was a bit too high, as I have seen it on eBay from time to time, heh. If you still want it, LMK anytime. It is in very good to EX condition.

Yup, I know the fella too. He bought it for $3 at a pawn shop too! I believe he asked if anyone wanted to buy it first, and he bumped his topic several times in the day, which got people angry at his noob-ness.

Now, he's laughing.

In my opinion the rarity of Fun & Games is not accurate. So far I have 3 copies (one boxed & one I just found last week) which I found in my area. I've also passed up several copies before I knew how rare it was supposed to be. Someone said only 2000 copies were made but that number seems way too low considering the number of copies I have come across myself. Just my opinion though.

There's two loose carts on half.com right now for about $30 each. Ehh.

And the European version of the SNES FNG is so common and cheap:

I'm pretty sure I've seen it in the wild before. 2000 doesn't sound like accurate count to me, maybe 20,000?

I work the SNES DP section. I was in contact with several developers of the title. It was confirmed that the print run was extremely low on the SNES version and that it barely made it out the door. From the developer themselves 2000 or less copies estimated. I would venture to say possibly up to 5000 but no higher.

People are only still finding them in the wild because:

A.) it is a kids based game with no demand, and the general public could care less for the game
B.) No one knows that the title is rare, and you would not have known exactly how rare if not for the DP site, which is the only reason people are probably even picking the carts up in the first place
c.) SNES collecting is just starting to take off, get them while you can for cheap

Complete copies are extremely rare given the nature and is akin to DKJR math on the NES the box and manuals were trashed after given to the little kiddos. There has only been a handful of Complete US copies available on ebay or anywhere within the past 5 years i would even go as far as saying less than 10 complete copies have sold on Ebay within the pat 5 years

EDIT: GENESIS, 3dO, and PAL SNES versions are all common

I also worked on SNES with D_N_G. I can confirm that his information was accurate.

Before the DP Advance guide was more than a thought, DNG sought out more info about FnG because he was having trouble locating it. At this time, the most anyone had to go on for SNES was Andrew Krieg's game list. Rarity values at this point for SNES was spotty at best as well, and most were word of mouth and observations.

So he sought out said developers. When he relayed his findings, he also forwarded me the emails he exchanged back and forth.

I agree with the above statements that D_N_G and Port have voiced. FnG is extremely rare and took me awhile to find.

If you are thinking about collecting SNES, pick this up. Pieces too.

I never seen a copy of the game personally and I have over 300 SNES here.

I bought the only copy I've ever seen in the wild at a Software. Etc back in early 2004. Wound up trading it off a few months later because the deal I was offered was too good to pass up.

And yes, the dress up game is completely tacky. LOL

I special ordered it at Game Crazy last year. Within one week, they called me up and already had it in.
