Hahah exactly what I was thinking! And many other people obviously(from other forums I was reading)...
I wish there was SOME sort of new Zelda media to watch. I even enjoy watching the old US cartoon... EXCUUUUUUUSEEEEEEEE ME PRINCESS.......

Looks like a lot of time and effort went into making the trailer, and the costumes as well. But sadly, I don't see this as much more than glorified cosplay.
When I heard the Requiem for a Dream music in the trailer, I cringed. Why does everyone use that song?

Yeah I noticed that too. They probably did that on purpose though.

Interesting, but there wasn't really any resemblances to Zelda games other than Link and Ganon. I kept thinking that I would eventually see some sort of Goron costume or something like that, but it was just flashes of some guy in a green suit, a sword and a triforce drawn in with a permanent marker on his hand.
And yeah, the Requim for a Dream music got me thinking too.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to shut this down. This doesn't fall under parody, so I'm pretty sure some copyright law is being violated.

It reminds me of one of those porno movies that try and focus on story more than the sex, but it never works out because you can't have a story in a porno flick, so then It ends up looking really lowbudget.
I really can't stand these homemade films everyone trys to do, they always turn out like shit and in this case they're going to take the good Legend of Zelda name and turn it into lowbudget trash.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll get right on that, right after they take down the video of the show choir performing tetris.

You're wrong, they used the name Zelda in the title so it is surely a copywrite/trademark name infringement......
Also it looks really boring..

Are you kidding me, it was a complete rip from OoT. From kokori forest to link standing on the bridge out to hyrule then in the courtyard of the castle, to link sneaking past all the gaurds to get to Zelda to climbing death mountain... everything just like OoT!

Thats a pretty asshole thing of you to say. Sure, it dosn't look like a hollywood produced film, but you have to give credit where it is due. You think all the directors were instantly hired because they had nice names or lots of money? You've got to start somewhere, and if this turns out well, I can totally see the director/editor/actors getting a career out of it, or atleast using it to show people to help get a job.

Yeah, this is totally illegal unless they have Nintendo's blessing.

Cause a group performing an old russian song is completely related to people making a movie based on nintendos IP.

Gah, a lot of negative criticism in this thread.
I for one absolutely loved it. Maybe I'm so h4rdc0r3 zelda that I think anything related to it is amazing. I'm willing to accept that as a possibility. I loved how much effort went into the vid though. I envisioned it as a sort of college film-student project, as my friend who is doing just that makes similar films. Its certainly not professional quality, and I noticed how some of the effects were done because I do some minor editing, but to me that only adds to the authentic hardcore-fan feel to it. You guys can bash this if you'd like. I'm going to continue to praise it, because I feel it is definitely praiseworthy.
One last thought: think of it, if this was done professionally, and done right (as in, doing justice to the series), then think about how amazingly badass that would be. This vid also deserves credit for allowing us a tiny glimpse as to where it could go, if it got a GOOD hollywood workover.

Very good "Movie trailer" ^.^
Though that Link is left handed, but anyway it looks fine..
But I don't know when Nintendo calls to that "movie"
makers home and tells that he/she has broke the
copyright law..
Yeah, Link r0><S!!! ^.^
(But FF rock more than Link!)

Wow, some amazing production quality for an independent film. I wanna know where these guys live that they have such awesome locations that fit Ocarina so well. A lot of details were to the T, like Ganon and the locations, but it does irk me that the guy playing Link is right-handed and Zelda's brunette. My friend Chris, an amateur filmmaker with one full-length feature under his belt (it was only shown locally, but with great success) is dead-set on making a whole series of Zelda movies and he's going to encompass as much story from all the games as possible. I should show him this and tell him he's got competition. Of course neither he nor this guy can do any more than probably local screenings without Nintendo's approval, but Chris is very optimistic.

That was damn impressive for being fan-made. Loved the trailer music! Yes, it can't excatly be distributed due to Nintendo's copyright but is that a reason to totally bash on someone's work?

Why? It is indeed illegal, so why shut up about it? I think it should be discussed more...after all, this is a gamer's forum.

It's not any more or less illegal than any fan site in general, fan fiction, half the avatars on this website, etc. Most companies don't care about stuff like this because it promotes the product anyway (Nintendo especially).
Either way I'm very impressed with the trailer, and it's great that they're already in post production of a full length movie. Makes me wish the guys that did that Mega Man trailer had the group to do a movie as well.

This is so beyond the production values of what appears on Lifetime it's not even funny. The only thing a Lifetime movie has over it is 35mm and a cinematographer.

Regardless of casting they looked like real experienced actors and not just random people who never did any acting. I wonder if this will ever be anything more than a trailer. And it should be perfectly legal as long as its a fanmade movie only which isn't ever sold in any way.

Going by the website it already is. They just have to finish post production and CG animation for those shots of huge monsters. Supposedly around the end of this year it will be complete.
Any earlier, and Nintendo should throw some money around and make it an extra on Twilight Princess. ;)

Good God, lighten up people! There's nothing illegal about this in the least! That is, unless they try to make money off of it, which I'm guessing they won't.
As someone else already said, this is no different from fanfic or fanart.
Now, I don't ever want to see a commercially produced Zelda movie. Ever. 'Cuz you know it'd suck. There'd be some kind of major changes to characters/setting/etc., or the casting would be really lame, or whatever. But this homemade kind of stuff is pretty cool. I enjoyed watching that trailer.

I thought it was pretty cool myself.
I don't care about how legal it is, because I drove 50 in a 40 to get to school and find out about this trailer (point: we all do things illegally, so who cares).
I do think that it is pretty cool that the only things people have bashed is the fact that this link is right handed and that the fan movie is illegal. Maybe low budget, but then again, look at the high budget movie Doom, or let's say, House of the Dead, or say, nah forget it, you guys get the point :)
Yeah, I left out some good high budget game movies, but the point of brining up crappy ones was to point out that even legally, even high budget, it is still possible for a movie to suck.
Fanmade or no, it lookes kinda cool.

Well, I wouldn't know about that since I've never watched a Lifetime movie, but this trailer does rely pretty heavily on long fade cuts and sappy music, which seem to be hallmarks of the Lifetime Network (or the Hallmark Network for that matter).

Right...using someone else's intellectual property and calling it yours is never legal. But, as long as they don't try to profit on it, they will probably be fine. But honestly, Nintendo could very easily make a case for a cease and desist. In fact, they could do it for any fanfic site, to be honest.
