Man, the 360 is really blowing up right now. Tons of very good games all hitting right at the same time. Talk about your second wave. This is one of the most impressive second wave's I've seen in quite some time. It all started with Fight Night Round 3, which many people believe is the first "true" next generation game of this new era. Then Burnout Revenge arrived. Then the gigantic release of GRAW. Then the even bigger explosiion of Oblivion. And last but not least is Far Cry Instincts Predator. Talk about a huge month. I haven't even mentioned a number of other games that have also trickled out.
I must admit that the launch didn't have any super, super, super duper games, but man, this follow up is pretty special. I'm still blown away by Fight Night every time I play it, even though it's been overshadowed by all the new releases. I just got done playing Burnout Revenge just now, and let me tell you, you just use your own music feature, put your best tunes in there, and just have a blast. Pure Fun. GRAW was definitely a shocker. Talk about Next Gen. That's pretty damn next gen right there. And Oblivion, don't even get me started. I haven't had the pleasure yet of playing Far Cry, cause I'm waiting for it from GameFly. But I'll get that soon.
Man, just a very, very amazing month of releases for the 360. I'm still kinda excited about checking out Top Spin 2 as well! :-P

It makes me happy as well. Everybody was ready to absolutely slam MS for releasing early. I saw--and still see--great potential in the machine. C'mon Gears of War!

They've had it going since launch. Honestly i can't remember the last time we had this many good releases with the first 4 months of a console release.
Normally it take about a year before good stuff shows up but with the 360 the Launch was ok, Febuary was incredible and March soldiers on with more great titles.

Is this this considered the launch window? Because if so, I'm beginning to think this is the best launch of any system, ever. All of the games that have come out in the last month and a half or so have easily pushed it over the top.

You forgot to mention the "budget" title Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires , which is out now for 40 bucks.

Microsoft is pulling off some good moves the only thing negative thing I can see is the amount of systems available.
When you fight the big guns you need to get systems into the hands of everone who wants one. I think of them as a fighter in the ring winning the first round but can't knock the opponent out. Sony has back to back ego blows. Lack of psp underwhelming sales and know umd flopping. I am curious to see how they recover. The last 2 systems with expensive formats didn't do well. 3do and n64.
I remember you were going through a 360 dry spell. The last count I remember was 17 days. How long did you finally go without playing the xbox 360.
Quick question Anthony1, What is your profession? Is it in the field of writing? You can churn out some topics,
a regular one man show with the keyboard. If I owned a magazine you would be editor-in-chief.
I look forward to one day reading your manifesto:)
Get ready for the summer drought.
i've got high hopes for Chromehounds, ~June i believe, being a mechwarrior fan it might be a reason for me to get a 360

The shortage has been over for a while now. We actually have EXTRAS in several of the stores in my area. Everyone around who wants one is getting one.
Also by Monday there should be an even larger shipment coming in to many stores (Gamestop/EBs got theirs already over the past two weeks).
As far as releases go I'm not buying another in store 360 game until Gears of War. That looks like it will be the awesome Aliens clone of the year.
Definitely downloading SF2 ASAP whenever they finally make it available though.

I'm pumped for Battlefield after the demo.
And Farcry sucked. The PC version still owns the Xbox version, and the Xbox version on the 360 is nothing special.
When I can play Evolution actually, that might change my mind about the game, but til then, I'll keep playing DoD:Source.

It's pretty cool that the 360 launch has a sweet second wave of games. Particularly Fight Night 3, GRAW and Oblivion. I'm looking forward to 360 Tomb Raider as well...
Cheers,

I definitly wouldn't consider this launch window
launch IMO would have been till january the first 3 months than the second wave is from february on
though I am very impressed at the level of games coming out now, I hope Sony can do just as well in the level of games being released, I mean until oblivion and GRAW there really wasn't a spectacular title for the 360 but still i am very impressed at how MS has done the last month or so, though it did take them along time to finally get any systems out, but at least the drought is over.

Yeah, I picked up Oblivion, Burnout and G.R.A.W. They're all pretty good, though I'm not that into Oblivion. Seems overrated, but I haven't put more than four hours into it.
I still need to pick up Call of Duty 2 and Condemned from the launch though.
We're all big enough boys and girls now to realize that this is the way system launches go.
I kind of like having games trickle out. It's easier to budget for them! I wouldn't WANT to see a month where there are 10 gotta-haves. That's nearly $1,000 Canadian.
I wonder if there's a new Forza for our 360s in the works....and when we can expect it?
360 drought? Where? They're sitting on shelves here and aren't selling. Can't blame people though. I've noticed that the retailers have put the price up due to the "rarity" of the systems.

If you have a Fry's Electronics in your area, then they have it for $29.99, which is actually pretty decent. If I was remotely interested in it, I would go get one. I'm not sure if their online store has it for that price too. www.outpost.com

I've wanted a 360 for months now, but didn't want to shell out the cash for first-gen hardware. With a few good games out now and others such as GoW, Bioshock and Crysis coming out down the line I'm ready to jump in.

Damn 360 commercials are subliminal :P
The 360 and Elder Scrolls has consumed most if not all of my free time.

Actually I work in a very boring, mundane job for the State of California. I probably should take some journalism courses, as I've never had any formal journalism training. I'm pretty much self taught. I know that I use commas way too much, and I probably suffer from many more gramatical errors.
But I got the skillz baby!!! LOL
Yeah right. You know what would be cool though? Like if somebody that works for Game Informer was a member here and spotted me like a talent scout. I ain't moving to Minnesota though. I would have to do my work remotely. But with the written word, that shouldn't be a problem. Right now, Game Informer is in my opinion, todays version of GameFan. They don't waste any pages, they show everything, and they break it down for you without all the blah-blah. I would work for them in a heartbeat. So if Andy McNamara or Andrew Reiner or any of the other boys are members here, drop me a pm.

I have my eye on the 360. I am still waiting to see GOW in action but I know I will have one soon.
I still can't justify $400.00 for a game system.

I don't have a point here, but it's funny seeing a guy called "SNKFan" with a Neo Geo av say "I still can't justify $400.00 for a game system." :D

That's funny, I was thinking the same exact thing, and I was going to post that, but I said, "nah, no need ...". But that's funny that you thought the same exact thing as me. Like the Neo-Geo is a cheap system to deal with! LOL

Well here's the difference, when you buy most Neo-Geo AES games, they retain their values. If you get Xbox 360 + games, the value keeps dropping

You do have a very, very good point there. That is why I don't purchase modern games. I lease them. For only $3.50 per month, I can have any 360 game or PS2 game or PSP game or whatever, and exchange it as many times as I want. (of course the speed of the U.S. Mail service factors into that equation). On the rare occasion that I see a current gen or next-gen game priced super, super low, then I might actually buy it, but otherwise, it's simply not logical.
There are very few items known to man that depreciate faster than a game that cost you $59.99 plus tax.
