They are horrible now, has anyone looked at theirs.

Ugh! I HATE it.

Dammit, I used to like IGN because I liked the formatting best out of any of the collection pages.

www.rfgeneration.com is still working very well for me.

Yeah, just noticed it this morning :-/

Can't have it in Alphabetical and Platform order at the same time...

And the boxart they have is a pain, so I removed it. Import covers, GH Covers. Yuck.

Aw shit. And to think last week I spent a whole hour putting small descriptions of either if it was loose, complete, or in between. I hate the way they organize it too, it's just as bad as Gamespot's.

chrisbid
03-31-2006, 10:49 AM
if they manage to fix it to where the platforms are alphabatized, then it will be fine. i like how you can edit which columns you can and cant see

but the haphazard box art is plain bad

Another problem seems to be with the notes. If you add a game now even without notes there's still a box under it where a note would be, but not for games added before the switch.

Anyone know of a website that I can list my collection with a note field on the same page? I could care less about noting if it has a box or manual.

Interesting...it's gonna take me a while to get used to this, but I think I like it. IGN's user stuff has been getting an overhaul over the last few weeks, so hopefully this is just the beginning.

Also, I'm pretty sure my 'collection value' skyrocketed by about $5,000. @_@

Call me what you will, but I'm confused. My collection appears the same as it always has. Did I have to sign up for the beta?

no it was a automatic changeover, and for me not a better one, lol it added an extra $9k to my "net worth" where the hell do they get these numbers?

has anyone tried submitting games again?

I'm no fan either. This might be the last straw that will cause me to write my own collection page.

I'm going to play with it some more before I make a final call, but it doesn't look good.

But, yeah, my collection jumped by like $40,000. I'm a Hundred-Grand-A-Naire now. Wee!

the values used to be based off GameStop.com, so the source obviously changed. they are still BS though

go to http://www.rfgeneration.com and create a user account. then, on the left side bar, look at the collection tools section....from there you can add games, view your collection, make notes, etc.....

...plus, we are very good at quickly adding missing games and images to rfgen, so if you see somethign missing, just submit game info or game images and they will be loaded within hours, sometimes within minutes....

Well, try adding some games. there is a text box there for notes. I tend to put in there if I'm missing something other than the manual like a special map or something or if one of my parts of the CIB game is in poor condition. The text box shows up next to the game you're looking at.

On second thought, I think I'm going to wait this out and not worry about all this list business for a while. I might go back with IGN, I might not. Regardless of what I ultimately decide, I have untold amounts of respect for those who work so hard on independent game sites like RFGen and VGRebirth. They're among the awesomest things on the internet. :)

I noticed the site changed their layout. You could search, say.."zelda" and all titles from just about every platform/handheld from the SNES/GEN era on which had the searched word in the title would be listed, under separate subcategories for system. it's a fucking mess now, and i think they deleted most of it. :( this really sucks when you want to find reviews of titles you've spotted and are curious as to what they are as well as comparisons of cross-platform games of the 32-bit to modern consoles.

As much as some of the content on their site stunk, the site itself had a wealth of info and one of the best lists of games on the internet despite a few glaring omissions.

As for RFGen, I've started to move my collection over, at least in part, to give it a try.

So far it's been pretty good, I haven't really noticed any omissions other than a chunk of my import library. I've still got to figure out how to submit missing games though.

No Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan? Shame. Shame shame.

EDIT: No Loom on the US TG16-CD. Triple shame.

yea, what was said above....but, any help you can give (as in info on games we dont have) is greatly appreciated, especially on the import side of things, since most of us are US collectors, but we, as a staff, still want to get complete import lists so as to cater to everyone.......rfgens goal is to, among other things, have the most complete game listing possible.....

Your text is still there actually. Do a copy and paste of a line into notepad.

Also, I'll work on getting a list with actual publishing info for RFGen this weekend, as I have quite a few Saturn imports that aren't on there.

I haven't looked at everything yet but I kind of like the new look. I like how you can view by platform and by genre.

Also, there is now a DVD section. I don't know if it will replace DVDaficionado for me, and it is a bit off-topic here, but it's a nice touch.

I'll have to play around with it a bit more.

That's odd. When I submitted a game that was missing to IGN it was added pretty quickly (Star Trek Pinball for the PC by Interplay). That was a few years ago though so maybe they aren't as dilligent now.

Like tholly said.
Submit missing games and they will be added quickly and you will be credited ;)

There are no new games in the missing games thread so i can't do any now.
But i make sure to get them all within 24 hours tops.

It is rare that i will not be able to add a game within 24 hours(tops) of someone giving me info.

Also as Tholly said the overseas titles are rather lacking.

I was given permission from a few websites to use their console lists(worldwide releases for at least 6 systems) but i have not gone thru them yet... :-/

Wow, I haven't thought of my IGN collection in ages...I probably haven't even accessed it in 2 years or more. I got tired of so many of my games not being listed. Some games I had for awhile were shown as having been "cancelled". Wow, if they were cancelled, my copies must be real rare! :D
