Willie was hanging up more shelving to house his collection this morning, so I decided to entertain myself playing some Rampage on the NES. Now, I've never actually taken the time to play the WHOLE game through, but I assume there are 128 levels (because that first screen says something about 128 days.) I was bored enough that I made up my mind to play all the way through to the end.
Don't get me wrong, Rampage is fun (and more so on other systems), but boy wasn't it freakin' monotonous. I found it very amusing to destroy the city of Bangor in Maine! And then I fell back asleep. So, I'm on level 90-something when Willie decided to join back in. Look, only 30 more levels to go! Lizzie started attacking George, because it was a lot more fun than destroying buildings and eating toilets. George starts making a few cracks about "Wouldn't it be funny if the power went out?" and Lizzie threatens to remove George's banana should that happen.
Level 103, the game FROZE. If we hadn't been using the top loader, I think I would have thrown the whole thing right out the window. I know I'll never want to waste that much time ever again to get to that point; it was all or nothing today.
So, anyone want to tell me what DOES happen at the end?

You didn't miss anything. Here's what you'd see if you finished it.

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S

This is often the case with arcade-game ports, particularly on 8 and 16-bit systems. Sometimes for an extra kick in the teeth they'll even spell it wrong, like CONGRADULATIONS or CONGRATULATION.

Same thing happened to me while playing the Free Kick coin op a few years ago. Argh!!!

I never cared for the NEW Rampage, but I'm a huge fan of Rampage World Tour. Good stuff. :)

Nothing beats putting in a cart & having an erased save or dead battery.

Many a controller has been thrown over Baseball Stars erasing my leagues back in the day.

One friend of mine bought an NES just so he could keep the game in it without taking it out & risking the blinking screen (almost a sure erase) when he tried to put it back in.

Don't even get me STARTED on battery backup games.. All the time I'd put into Dragon Warrior 1 and then FLASH! the NES reset, and the whole thing was erased.. :(
