I apologize for ranting here (and I promise this is NOT an April Fools joke), but I'm hopeful that perhaps someone on here will feel my pain...or something.

This afternoon, my 360 crapped out on me one time too many. I decided to take it back to GameCrazy with the warranty to have it replaced. After calling one place that didn't have any employees who knew how to exchange a system to another store who refused to do it unless Microsoft looked at it first, I found a place that was more than willing.

After driving a half hour to get there, the exchange wouldn't go through because of a problem with my check card. After spending roughly an hour trying to get it settled with my bank, I finally got a new system and made my way back home.

I thought all was well at this point, until just a few minutes ago - when I realized that my copy of Oblivion was still in the defective 360. I'm going to call the store tomorrow to see if I can get it back somehow, but I'm worried that it's not going to be possible. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this? If so, what's a good course of action in this situation?

WHAT THE HELL? I would terminate someone on sight for doing that to a customer if they bought the warranty.

As far as the disk in the system goes, they likely won't pack up and ship any defectives until Monday afternoon. Just call as soon as they open on Sunday and you should be okay. Even if they packed a box already it should be no big deal for them to open it, get your disk out and then reseal everything in there.

Dude, that royally sucks. I'd be there first thing in the morning before it gets shipped out.

No kidding. I wish I had thought faster when he said this, because he would've been bitched out like there was no tomorrow if I had. He told me that I had to send it to Microsoft, regardless of whether or not I had a warranty from them because "they were still doing all of those" and "stores don't have enough units to do exchanges yet". So...I guess in his eyes, my warranty serves absolutely no purpose.

Why my bullshit alarm didn't go off in a matter of microseconds is beyond me.

It's probably good that this happened on a weekend, where they aren't going to be able to ship it off anytime soon. I'll definitely call them the second I wake up.

My apologies for the double post...

One other thing I forgot to mention - they were nice enough to allow me to exchange up to a Premium bundle (I had a core up to this point). I now have an extra HDD, but I'll probably trade it into Gamestop once the B2G1F starts. Anyways, is there supposed to be a significant difference between the component cable and the standard one on a regular TV? My fiance swears there's a noticable difference, but I'm not as sure.

Oh, there definitely is a big difference with the cables. It's especially important if you have an HDTV (it's required for HD resolutions), but still a big deal with non-HD TVs.

Did the system crap out with the disc unable to be removed? Or do you leave whatever game you were playing in the drive and power down the console? If it's the latter, leaving a disc in the drive is very hard on a console upon reboot. It can kill a system surprisingly quick.

As for the cables....the cable itself would most likely be a higher grade, which is always an improvement, no matter how slight. Before I had an LCD tv, I switched out regular AV cables for AV Monster Cables on my Playstation 2 and there WAS a huge difference. I haven't seen a 360 hooked up to anything but an LCD, but it probably still looks awesome on a tube set.

When i sent my PS2 for chipping i forgot to remove the Metal Gear Solid disc. I didnt notice this before i got it back and it was still inside the PS2 :) If you just returned th 360 i bet its still in the store. Just call and explain, they will probly check it.

Which is why all my disc based systems, including my Xbox 360 and PC, have never had any drive problems. And I leave the discs in there 24/7.

On topic, I once sent my PS2 in for repair. I accidently left my FFX disc inside it. They sent it back, with the FFX disc in a CD holder. Yay.

I left a ps1 game in my ps2 when I returned it to Walmart. It was super easy to get it back the next day.

Nonsense, there's absolutely no reason it would be hard on a cd based console, especially if you leave the game in there for a reason (because you know you will play it the next time you fire it up), which would be prolonging the life of the system in that case.

The prodigal Oblivion has returned...this was a lot easier to take care of than I had braced myself for. What a relief. :)

Man, I can only imagine. Oblivion is owning me right now, and to have it fall out of my grasps would be unimaginable. The thing is, I actually rented it from Blockbuster. I have to return it in 6 days. However, I'll be getting it from my rental service soon, and I only pay $3.50 a month to rent 360 games. ($3.50 per each game, switch as many times as I want, 6 games at a time)

If I was you, I'd call them ASAP.

I don't know how fast they ship out their defective products, but for our retail store, we ship out every second day, sometimes every day. There's been times where people have forgotten games in their systems, or batteries or what-not, DVDs in the players, they put the wrong DVD in the case, etc. We can't do a damn thing, they'd probably have to call the GENCO facility in Toronto, Ontario.

Sucks to be them, but that's why you always check, double check whatever you are returning.

Good luck on getting your game back!

*EDIT* Didn't realize you got it back already, congrats :D
