$%#@! Import Duties!

So I just got a package from Play-Asia. It's the first time i've ordered from a company since I moved overseas. Anyway, when the package shows up it's got a COD tag on it.

Turns out since it's "commercial merchandise" it got hit with sales tax and import duties! Everything got hit for 10% for the tax, and each game got hit another 10% for duties, and the CD I imported got hit for 20%! Nasty...

Anybody else had this issue on shipments received?

Yup, I ordered the R's Best versions of R-Types and R-Type Delta along with Einhander from PlayAsia and got stung for about £16 import duty and 'opening fee'! Not happy.

It seems that single games like Trizeal, Radilgy, Under Defeat get through ok. Soon as that box has 2 or 3 games in it they sting you.

My eeprom burner also got some daft import tax of about £20 too.

I've been hit a couple of times with it. One was for a box of bits and bobs and the other was when I imported Taiko no Tatsujin.

When I ordered Guitar Freaks V, I was determined not to get stung for duty so I ordered it from http://us.yesasia.com/]Yes (http://us.yesasia.com/assocred.asp?KTMO6MOV+[url) Asia[/url]. To ensure that the customer doesn't incur duty, they ship it to a different address in the UK and then it's shipped from that address to you. Obviously takes a few days longer but I'm never in a hurry for stuff so I'd rather have the peace of mind. Shipping's free too.
