View Full Version : Yet another 360 question (or two).

I am thinking about picking up a 360 eventhough my original plan was to wait at least a year. A couple of good eBay sales have given me some extra cash. My questions are:

1) How does it look on a regular TV? Sure it looks great on the Samsun HD set up at EB but how will it look on a regular tube set.

2) Does it increase the quality of the graphics for the backwards compatible games? I heard it does but how well? I never really noticed a difference on the PS1 games played on the PS2 unless you displayed them side by side.

More questions to come (probably).

It looks ok on a standard tv, but to be honest you really need a HDtv to truely appreciate it. They don't look like crap, but lets say they don't look as good as they could.

As for the games looking better in anyway, they don't. They emulate the xbox 1 games on the 360, so they look just like they would on a xbox 1.

I haven't seen it in action on an HDTV (sad, I know), but I've definitely been wowed by the graphics on my regular old screen. I will say, though, that if you have a regular TV, the nicer cable (composite? component? I get them mixed up) is a definite must have. This cable comes with the Premium bundle and not the core system, just for the record.

As far as BC stuff goes, I haven't bothered to try, but I doubt the difference is noteworthy.

Absolutely going for the premium bundle. Mainly for the hard drive but it's nice to know the component cables are in there.

Yeah, if you have an analog tv with the component inputs, the games still look pretty descent.

Why are people asking that stupid question:

Will it look ok, or at least better then the original XboX?

Of COURSE IT WILL, its the next generation. HDTV only effects the CLARITY OF THE SIGNAL, basically.

It has better graphics then the original, so it will look better on ANY TV. Backward compatible games LOOK THE SAME. THEY ARE BACKWARD COMPATIBLE, THATS IT.

Man oh man.

Actually, I think backwards compatible games look cleaner and crisper on the 360. There's less blurring going on, and the details pop out better. Halo 2 is a good example of this. Of course, a lot of that is probably due to the fact that I use the standard AV cables on the Xbox, versus component for the 360. Still, much better. I'd recommend trying it out at a friend's house if you have the means.

The thing that makes the game look better is that it is upconverted into high definition in most cases.

I also believe there is some anti aliasing added.

That's because all BC games are upscaled to 720p on the 360.
