i understand that cheetahmen 2 was released in a batch by the manufacturer after active entertainment had gone bankrupt. but does anybody have an estimate on the number of carts that went out in that batch? what is going rate sitting around for cheetahmen 2 right now?

Afaik around 1000 copies were made. The price today is about $250 - $300 for a sealed copy. This is one of the games that actually harder to find opened than sealed hehe.

I sold an extra copy on ebay about 4 months ago for $380 sealed. I would agree with the $300+ price range. With all the Nes collectors getting going out there, the price has not topped out yet.

Tha manufacturer claimed about 1200 pieces were made. A number of them were sold to flea market dealers in Florida (where the mfr was located). I had 100 and I know one other collector had either 100 or 200. I was told by the mfr that the last couple hundred were donated to charity to finally get them out of the warehouse.

Hello, Mike : ) This is the other Mike that had a qty of Cheetahmen IIs. I wish I would have kept some aside. I never got more than 80 or so for a sealed and even sold some in my store for 19.95. I gave one to my buddy and he recently sold it on eBay for 500.00 Doh! Mike : )

This is interesting. Early in the year I found one at a flea market in Florida. It was not sealed, but it was basically brand new. I sold it on here via the Marketplace.

Dammit, it's always the crap games that go for so much! LOL How come the rares are only good games about 10-20% of the time? Ok, yes, I pulled that number out of my ass.

I suppose that being crap, the production numbers would naturally be lower, though. But then there's E.T. :hmm:

I must be in the minority, I have a loose copy that I picked up at an eb games (massachussetts) for 5$, it was pretty scratched up and was missing the cheetahmen 2 sticker (thought it was an action 52)

strangley the same day I found a tengen tetris in the same box.

got a question is the cheetahmen 2 game just a action 52 cart in a cheetahmen 2 box or did they put just the cheetahmen 2 on a cart by itself ....ive seen the carts for sale but the ones ive seen say action 52 on them...wasnt cheetahmen on the action 52 cart...guess im confused..

I beleive that when Cheetahmen II was being released, the company who was manufacturing it (I think it is Active, I can't remember right now) was pretty broke (which is also why the game never saw a commercial release). So, instead of using a new casing, they put all the Cheetahmen II boards inside of Action 52 casings. That, and they stuck a sicker on the back of the cart that mispells the name of the game as "Cheetamen II."

Both of the games have their own individual box, though. Also, the board of the Cheetahmen II can be clearly defined as a Cheetahmen II board. So, if somebody claims to have a Cheetahmen II game but refuses to test it for some reason, there is a inscribing on one of the eproms that read something like "Cheetahmen" or something like that. I don't have my cart infront of me, so I can't tell you.

Action 52 had cheetahmen 1 on the multicart. Cheetahmen 2 is the sequal to the game although cheetahmen 2 is supposed to have 6 levels it only has 4 and then the game crashes. A rom was put up on the internet and it was determined that the game intentionaly crashes after level 4 because level 5 and 6 are clones of levels from the first game

Active was the producer/publisher. The manufacturer was a company called GTI (I think, been a long time since I talked to them). Active had little to do with the Cheetahmen II production as GTI was only looking to make back some of what Active owed them, which is why no additional cart shells were made. GTI was also offering uncased (ie loose production board) Action 52's for the Genesis though I don't know anyone that got any.

Keep in mind, all of this information was obtained first hand a number of years ago, so I'm relying on my memory ;)

LOL
Which is why my reconstruction of what happened had so many errors in it. It's been a while since I've read up on the "Legend of the lost Cheetahmen Games."

In any event, Mr. Etler's brain probably hold the largest amount of information with regards to Cheetahmen II's (or, heck, the entire NES library's) history. So I'm sure that what he said is as accurate as anybody can get.
