There are people here on DP that are in Japan and are willing to look for stuff in Japan.

Maybe you could ask if they could do some Yahoo Japan auctions for ya.

Check in the "Buying and Selling" forum.

Have you tried rinkya? They can act as the middle man for you.

There are many companies that do this. Rinkya, celga, etc -- but they are very expensive. There's a reason though -- surrogate bidding is a complete pain in the ass. It's not affordable for small items, but isn't too bad for more expensive items.

Shopping Mall Japan apparently has a good reputation for not being too pricey.

crescent-shop is fair too. add around 1000 yens to each purchase under 5000 yens.

yep ! i've just got all the stuff listed in the "import shopping" thread from them
the only thing is the deposit : $50 for each game... (refund)

Yes, I have some question about this initial deposit, this value is only for guarantee and is refunded? And that bidding limit is the maximum bid that you can put on one auction, if you're interested in one item that cost more than 15000 yen, you canīt bid?

I don't know about his thread... but on shoppingmalljapan, the deposit is the max for all auctions combined. So if the total bids across all your auctions equal your deposit, you can't bid higher on any items or bid on new items until you raise your deposit or hope that an auction ends quickly so you can pay it off.

I usually go through about 80-100 auctions a month on shoppingmalljapan so I gotta keep my limit high and pay the bills off as soon as they arrive to keep a pool of money open for more bids or bidding higher on current auctions.

It's really nice to be able to buy from YJ, but the prices can creep up on you very quickly. Here's an average invoice I get every few days. As you can see the shipping within japan and all the fees are substantial and that's not even with the price of shipping to you! Mind you that these are the "cheapy" games too. You'll love the fees when you buy a nice boxed/complete system or a nice 3 digit priced game.

Invoice # / Auction # / Yen Price / ~Yen Rate / Ending Price /

That's actually not too bad I guess. You know, I had the idea to do the surrogate bidding a long time ago, but I knew fuck all about web programming (or any programming) for that matter. The truth remains, it's a lot of work for little reward.

Here's an article (http://www.gamengai.com/bn_inf.php?type=article&id=1351) I wrote on the subject at hand.

In general, when people think about buying japanese games they automatically think about yahoo japan. However, yahoo singapore is a pretty good source of japanese games/hardware as well. I've dealt directly with sellers there. Before I lay down a bid, I email/message the seller and ask if they're willing to ship to the USA. Suprisingly quite a few of the auctions I've been interested in the sellers were in fact willing to ship abroad.

My best luck with yahoo singapore was for one of those big 2 player astro city style SEGA saturn sticks... was able to get one for 1/4 the average cost of buying one from yahoo japan or ebay (us/uk).

Just another option to consider for "foreign" auction sites for your japanese gaming needs.

As for deputy services being a lot of work.... oh yeah it is. The guy who owns shoppingmalljapan seems to be working 7 days a week. UGH to that shit.

shoppingmalljapan is very bad, they only ship by EMS to Brazil and need ship first to US before send to Brazil

They don't trust on brazilian people

Sorry to hear that. I don't know about other countries, but I get some items shipped directly to me from Japan. However, I usually use EMS for everything, except for extremely heavy items (100+ lbs) such as a slot machine, pachinko machine, etc....

Yes it's for guarantee, and to speed up transactions i guess.
here is an exemple : you win a game, which costs $45 all fees included (price, shipping inside japan, wire fees, ems).
You will be refunded of $5 at the end of the transaction.

and yes you can bid on quite pricey items (up to 150000 yens)
