I recently have started to clean all of my NES games inside and out.
Once I am done cleaning I put my cartridges in a GLAD Fold-in sandwich bag (yes the bag is new, not used) and then I stick it in the dust sleeve.
Is this a good way of doing this? I am trying to prevent dirt and discoloration.
If it can harm the cart, any other suggestions?

That's a little inconvenient for when it comes time to play your games. you should just invest in some of the hard shell cases that hold the game and instruction manual. there are multi-colored ones and plenty of clear ones, and even ones that say 'nintendo' on them. using those would look way nicer.

I've been using sandwitch bags for a year now and the only downside I have is that it looks ugly, but it works great.
I started my collection about 4 years ago and clean every game inside and out when I get it. I keep all my games in the black dust covers when available, and then stored in one of those large Sterilite underbed storage containers. All the games I got when I started the collection years ago still look and work pefectly (including the ones without a dust cover). Those Sterilite conatiners have clamps on the sides to keep the lid on, so no dust or sunlight or anything really gets in. It works great for me and the games fit perfectly (I don't know the exact number off the top of my head, but I'd say each container can fit about 180 games). The only downside is the carts aren't really "on display", but I would think keeping them in sandwich bags would be an eyesore anyway.

I have mine all on a shelf system so they are easy to see and get. I clean them all when I get them and I haven't had any problems with them yet, but I'll probably be switching to a tupperware container.

i just have my games stack nicely in a cabinet all 289 . its always dark when not in use so i figure thats a good way to store them for now.

They are in a large drawer cabinet anyway. Not really for display.

Bingo. Here’s a shot of my NES and SNES stack (note I ran out of the NES cases). These things keep your games in perfect shape and can be labeled for easy ID’ing.

Yeah, I wish it were!
No, it’s not...
It is complete though. I wanted my favorite NES games complete t so on my top shelf I have Zelda, FFI, Ninja Gaiden I&II (no love for III), SMB 1,2,3, and River City Ransom.

heh I have a sealed Zelda Classic Series (not the GBA), but rather the NES re-release from 1991 i think. It is still worth quite a bit of $.
Don't like NG3 ? I am still looking for a copy, have one you might sell? :D

Surprisingly enough NG III is sometimes hard to come by these days. It rarely pops up in the wild.

Already in a drawer cabinet? I would think just the dust covers would suffice, but I guess the sandwich bags will keep them *extra* clean. :)
I collected comic books briefly when I was younger and someone once told me plastic baggies were bad for long term storage, but that may just be a myth. My baggied comics have been in a shoebox in a closet for 15+ years and they're still mint... (and yet still not worth squat :P)

Ah, those shelves look sweet. I should start grabbing some of them for my loose carts too. Would the longer oversized Tengen manuals fit in them too, or likely not?

They are just like the old cases with 'Nintendo" on them except they are clear. Believe it or not I bought those game cases from eBay last year. If you remember this particular guy he was selling a MASSIVE amount of sealed NES games. He even had sealed NES Action systems. I guess he found some sort of stash in Hawaii or something to that effect. His auctions were on DP under the eBay section, that’s how I got wind of it.
Anyway, he has this box of 90 NES came cases for auction and it kind of slipped under the radar. I bought the whole box for $35. If anyone knows where to get more I’d love to know, I need 20-30 more. The other cases are the SNES/Genesis/SMS/N64/CD cases that I just bought from this place last week:

I got 100 sleeved units shipped for $65. Not a bad deal. Hell, I still have 30 left.

Go to Target.com and do a search for “ELF media storage”. It’s the $49.99 unit, I bought 2 of them and they stack together. When you assemble the unit you can space the bars to accommodate different box sizes. It’s pretty slick.

I really wish one of the plastic case companies out there still made those damn clear NES cases. I can't imagine there not being enough demand for them, especially since I know there are a ton of loose NES collectors out there (ok...well...I'm not basing that on facts or anything...but I know you guys are out there).

A fist full of plain ole' shelf style shoe racks. It is as if these things were made just for CD jewelcase height items as opposed to shoes (actually...they are kind of horrible for shoes). I can fit a row of around 45 loose nes carts per shelf (deep enough for 2 rows). That number begins to drop when I add manuals and dust covers (I don't own enough manuals/dust covers to test what that number may be). Only major issues I have are that they are generic white and any game media I've run into that is larger than a CD jewel case tends to not fit (on topic, the clear plastic cases we are talking about will not fit without shaving some of the plastic off of the top/bottom...not a lot, but enough to be a pain in the ass).
