I've cleared all of the regular levels from 1 through 10 except for 10-6 Labyrinth.

Does anyone have a strategy to get enough momentum to get up over that last part where the ramp meets the ledge? If you've played this level I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I always get there with about 16 seconds left but can't find a way to get enough speed.

Are you talking about the Story Mode? I can't get past whatever world it is with the launcher. I hate that freaking level!!!

ya, story mode. I'm done 99 of 100 levels. Just the damn Labyrinth level left. I can't remember the launcher level but I'm sure if you give me a little more detail I can help you out.

EDIT: do you mean this one?

Level 4-6 - Launchers - Difficulty: *********

Roll forward at the beginning and fall down to the other platform. Head towards one of the launching platforms. Go up to the part of the skid marks that are closest to the giant column, and let the launcher hit you. Use your judgement and the map (zoomed all the way) to land on top of the column. Now, look at the map to see where the rotating platform that the goal is on is located. You'll have to fall off of the column through the goal's ribbon, which is parallel to the platform.

I think that was one of those ones where I got lucky.

I must bow to your superior Monkey Balling abilities... (that's funny on *so* many levels). :hail:

Yup, that's the level. I've read that help before too - the guy claims he can do it semi regularily after practicing it a lot. I've practiced it a lot and I still suck at it very much. I've come close to lucking out once or twice but that's about it...

The most important thing on the launcher level, Jason, is to not be moving to the left or right at all when the launcher hits you. If you are, then you'll be launched too far out to reach the top of the tower. also try and be as much in the middle as you can. That level is one of the reasons I prefer the original monkey ball to the sequel. The levels are a lot bigger, and some are downright devious, but some of the levels are just plain luck.

Unfortunately, until you do it...that little ledge on the Labyrinth level will seem impossible even with a good description. Once you do it once, however, it will be second nature, and you'll rarely miss it again (believe me, I know...)

Basically, you have to try and get as much speed as you can (truthfully, there is no way to be going more than 4-5 MPH at best...) The key is to aim the ball right at the corner where the ramp and the ledge meet, at a slight angle (15-30 degrees should work). If you hit that specific spot, you will *usually* just pop up onto that ledge. Let me go back and play it, and I'll get back with more help...

Thanks for the tips - I'll have to give it another try this weekend (I haven't played SMB2 in weeks it feels like). Sorry about hijacking your thread with my problem Congo :)

I was stuck on that one forever until I noticed the switch behind where you start that slows the bubbles down to half speed. Then it was easy.

Has it worked yet Congo? One think I want to add...make sure you hit the box at the top of the ramp first just before you go for the ledge. Hitting the box tends to pop you up in the air...and give you just enough push to make it over that pesky ledge.

Yesterday, I was able to finish the level with just under 20 seconds left...if you need more help, let me know :)

Well I finally did it. Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I'm still left with a question. After I complete it and it goes through the movie, then I enter my name, I end up back at the start screen. When I go back into story mode, I'm still at labyrinth. When am I supposed to save to have the bonus levels?

Hmmm....I didn't get any bonus levels after the story mode.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the bonus levels that you get when you finish the beginner / advanced / expert levels of the normal mode game without using any continues??

If not, then I guess I've missed a few levels as well!! If you know the level names (I'm assuming you've looked at a guide or two trying to finish this game up...) that would help me know how to get them...

You're right, I misread the manual. It's still kind of strange that you don't get a "completed" story mode save though. Every time you go back into story mode after completing it, it shows the last level as if it was never completed. Great game though. Can't wait for #3.

No thank you, I didn't want to have to go back into that game to find more hidden levels!!

I agree that a completed story save SHOULD have been included...that, and a few other things (too many levels where "luck" gets you through i.e. "Launchers"). Make this game not quite as good as #1, in fact I like Jr. on the GBA a little more as well (once you get used to the controls...it's awesome!!!)

I'm all over #3 though as soon as it arrives.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you (game time wise) to get through the story mode? Your save file should tell you, I know it took me over 8 hours of game time the first time.

Actually, you'll be happy to know my "game time" was 13hrs. Keep in mind that I never played monkey ball 1 though so this was my first introduction to the sport ;-)

I would definitely go back and get #1...really good, plus some of the bonus games (Monkey Target especially) are better on #1 than in #2...

I'm going through story mode again on #2 right now...I just started world 3...only 11 minutes of game time so far :)
