Me holding it

Well, it's cool isn't it? *Time to stop gloating*

So yea, it plays 72pin cartridges (through an adapter) and has like 10 built in games (all of which I own)....it says 1000, but ALL OF THEM, are the ten games, I checked...all 1000. Well, yea, be happy.[/url]

I'm going to assume it doesn't look as blurry when you play it as that 2nd pic looks...

It looks rough around the edges (the tape on the corners of the screen), but if it works, and you are happy, more power to you :) I don't think I could ever make anything like that.

Hey, it's demonfaj! I know you from the benheck forums! You showed me this site. Thanks for that. Also, your portable is pretty sweet. May I suggest a SNESp next? It would be pretty cool, seeing as I portablized a SNESp first and you did a NESp first; and now I am doing a NESp and you can do a SNESp.

If the electronics are solid, you should make a nice case for it. Nice work though.

Hey man, please don't take this the wrong way. But I would prefer to just have a PSP with the NES emulator.

Again, I'm sorry for sounding like a dick. No offense mean't! ;)

A nice effort. Further than I've gotten with my portable 2600 project, anyway.

Let's see some pictures of 1) How you're inserting carts, and 2) what you're doing for power.

Can you also tell me who the manufacturer of that screen is and the approximate price? I like that.

It's one of those HIP Gear screens, off the controller with a screen attached for the PS2 and XBox. Pretty popular with mods now days because they're cheap and easy to disassemble.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses...it is the Rev. 1 though :P , anyways, Chronotrigger is also leet portabalizer (maybe better than me)...so to answer your questions.

1. It's an INTEC screen pad, they and the Hip Gears are generally the same but the Hip Gear is easier to mod and more power friendly (accepts wider range of voltage and easy to hack off capacitators then rewire, blah blah blah). I bought mine for 30 which is the average price.

2. The system I used is one of those Famiclones........with built in games of which I all own, as explained above.

3. Rev 1. and I rushed to finish it, so yea :P

4. "Emulation is like Masturbation, you can't fufill it"-Ben Heckendorn, as said by him, I once had a NES emulator and happy, but this is all of the power, and it is you know, nostalgic by all rights.

5. Tutorial:

Get Intec, open it, colors of wire coming out as said: Yellow- Video, Red- Left Audio, White- Right Audio (Use the white wire), Brown- A/V ground, Orange- Voltage in, Black- Voltage ground. For the power of Super Joy, I made an internal 4AA battery system, which would last about a week or month if you 'rarely' play (which I don't, I'm a power gamer), and a 7.2 V RC battery to power the screen, which can be disconnectable. BTW, for the 4AA pack, I got the Radio Shack one that has a built in switch, so yea, it rocks. To power the screen, hmmm, it was odd and kinda bulky...I took the power input board of a PSONE screen, and soldered V+ and - onto the output part, and I had a PSONE plug modded to a RC plug (PSONEp) to come on and off, you can do that or wire it manually with your own Female connector....then go to Benheck, 8 bit forum, Sticky for pinouts guide to add a controller and the A/V and ground....reset, that's the big Q for playing Zelda. Get a tactile pushbutton switch (push-connect, no push-no connect) and wire ground and the reset there, and every press will get a reset, cool no? So yea, connect everything and squish it together in a case. Take note that I'm 14, so yea, there you go, have fun.

Nice work! I understand this is just a first attempt and that this is a test run. Look forward to seeing your Rev 2 version as well.

I agree with the emulation aspect too. If you can play the original, then all the beter!

Haha, nice try. Don't believe me? Check out my post here: http://benheck.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=10241 Trust me I'm not Demonfaj, dumbass. There's even a post where he recommends this forum to me for buying Terranigma, so why the hell would I be him?!?!?!?
Oh, and about wanting a PSP instead of a homebrew... make your ass a portable and then I will stand up for your crap. It takes a lot of hard work to build these things, and it's a labor of love. When you put that effort into something, then you can say otherwise. Plus, projects like these give you the knowledge to make PS2ps and GamecubePs (but not Xbox because it sucks). So let's see what you think when I'm playing KHII on a portable and you're stuck with your crappy ol' PSP playing Kingdom of Paradise.

Huh... I'm unsure exactly why you recommended "NO 56K" in the title of your post, as the images are not so intensive in size and there are only three of them. I actually opened this thread just to see how slowly it would load, as I am on 56k, but it loaded oh-so-quickly. Maybe next time, suggest "NO 14.4"? x_x

I must say, your portable is rather large - and I am qualified to make such an assessment since I learned CP/M using a Kaypro "portable". Aside from that, it's always nice to be treated to people's portable projects, so if you make any more of them be sure to let us know here @ Digital Press.

:-) Thanks a lot for the responses guys...however let's not fight, let's love (love is equal to pwning noobs).

Anyways yea, it is seldom big, but fits in any backpack like a charm...I actually put it in my khakis (which have HUUUUGE pockets...I can fit a 8*6 inch frame in there, and I have tried) and brought it to the theatres. Coincidentially, the poster board holds up well...and I should retrieve pics of my semi PSONEp. Thanks again guys.
