View Full Version : Jack Thompson comes out?

This was all posted over at Gamepolitics.com in the comments. The IP matches, so it's definitely Jack... but it's a little different. He still makes no sense, lies contantly, and uses religion to make his points, but I think this shows his mindset (which is insane)

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

When I married the love of my life, I got in that blessed transaction more than I bargained for. I got another family—my wife’s parents and siblings—in addition to my blood relatives, and I have grown to love them beyond words. They love me back more than I deserve.

My biggest “fan” in all that I have done against the entertainment industry, and against their lawyers, is my wife’s younger sister, Pamela Claire. She lives in the Midwest with her loving husband and their two children. Pam often sends me news of the entertainment industry’s latest assault upon her children’s world. One Christmas holiday, Pam’s son returned from a neighbor’s house, at the age of 12, saying “Mom, Jimmy and I had sex with a prostitute and then killed her to get our money back!” My sister-in-law’s “mistake” was to let her son go to a neighbor’s house. Take Two, the maker of the Grand Theft Auto game which he played with his friend, couldn’t care less about its reckless assault upon children, stealing their innocence behind their parents’ backs, behind Pam’s back. She was angry. She asked me to act on her anger. I have.

Pam wants me, for all the parents out there who are being ambushed by Rockstar’s child molesting games, to stop Take-Two. With Pam’s encouragement and by God’s grace, we are well on our way to do just that. This is why for 18 years I have done what I do. There are all sorts of “Pams” out there. They often write and thank me. Pam always thanks me.

Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago. She beat it. Until now. It is back, I learned this morning, and it is in her chest cavity. She has started the chemo—again. We don’t know what will happen, but with Pam’s blessing I am writing you, my enemies, to tell you all something.

Pam wants me to let you all know—all of the scoundrels who seek to harm me and what I do—video game companies, vigilante video gamers who celebrate their “pixelante” status by threatening to kill or otherwise harm me with Bar complaints and other childish abuse, including now the sale of “Jack Thompson Toilet Paper” at a video game site, ethically-challenged, self-righteous entertainment industry lawyers, politically-motivated judges who forgot why they took their oaths of office in Alabama and elsewhere, Constitution-shredding Bars, the whole lot of you, that she wants me to win all my battles against all of you and thus against the porn and the violence distributed to children that you facilitate. Pam knows why I do what I do, and she knows the price I have paid. She prays for me, and she prays against you. That is a frightening prospect. This woman makes Lance Armstrong look like a wimp. The prayers of a righteous woman availeth much.

The price I have paid for what I do is not even close to the price Pam has paid to try to keep on living, so that she can raise and protect her children as best she can. The price she has paid does not match , however, to the price our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ paid for all of us on a Cross. She knows that. When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she cried out “Lord why me?” Quicker than I would have, Pam got to the point of literally saying to God, “Lord, why not me?”

I love my sister in law. She loves me. She has always encouraged me to fight on, against all of you. She is my hero. She is my role model. I will not let her down.

I now dedicate this fight, this “culture war” in which I am privileged to serve as a foot solder—to her, to Pamela Claire, my sister in law who has never given up.

If some of you have been dismayed and/or amused by my persistence and by my willingness to “pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe” to win the war I am in, then please know that “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”

You will not be pleased by what I am now willing to do, that is legal and proper, to win this fight. This has never, ever been about me, although all of you have always tried to make it about me. But suddenly this is even bigger than it was. The reality of death, of the preciousness of life, of what some women are willing to do to protect their young, has always inspired me, but it inspires me far more this day.

It was the women who never left the side of Jesus, when the men fled. The women in my life, including Pam, have never ceased to encourage me, despite the sinner that I am.

Thus, what I do henceforth in all of this is now, more than ever, I do for Pam.

Most sincerely, Jack Thompson

Jesus said: "If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.”

Joseph said to his brothers: “What you intended for harm, God has used for my good.”

For the same reason that Jesus excoriated, with his tongue, the Pharisees. You obviously don't read the Bible. You think Christians are supposed to be doormats for lying thugs like you pixelantes. Wrong. Read the Bible. Read what David did and said. Grow up.

Wow. If that doesn't prove his insanity, nothing will. From what I get, he's blaming his sister-in-laws breast cancer on video games in a roundabout way.

Thompson has to be an industry plant. There's no other way to explain how the most prominent critic of video games manages to make his ilk look like the total nutballs that they are.

Theories as I wrote about this on my blog:

1. In a roundabout way, he's blaming his sister's breast cancer on the video game industry. Let's be clear - breast cancer is tragic, and even though she's related to Jack, here's wishing her the best. The thing is, it really has little to do with anything in his story. He's simply milking a family member to make his point because everything else he's tried has failed miserably.

2. It could be a trap. Jack is getting personal, and with a letter to the FBI in an attempt to get them to investigate the site (since the comments always rip apart his theories), this could be the fuel he needs to make some case. The replies will be heated, though the thought of an FBI investigation is hysterical.

3. His old angle wasn't working. His questions to Hal Haplin in a brief Q & A session were surprisingly civil, and this letter continues that. His new image may be a last gasp at getting us to change our ways after name calling, religion, and letter writing didn't do anything. This won't work either because we already know he's full of it

It sounds to me like Jack is in a crisis of faith, and has been for a long time. I think that explains a lot of this - overgeneralizing, pointing fingers, copping out, and so on. I've seen this happen to a lot of people, but not usually with a public figure. This makes sense...while at the same time it doesn't really explain much, either. It definitely doesn't explain why he chose to share all of this...what prompted this message, if anything?

That's the thing...his crisis of faith seems to be coming straight from this exact point. He's put his faith in God as the Bible tells him to, he does the things that he feels are right and in God's will, and it isn't working out the way he wants. As a practicing Christian, I feel this way quite often, and I'm sure that plenty of other folks here who share my beliefs will feel the same way.

I can't know this for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is how Jack feels right about now.

I'll give him one thing, he sure knows how to make people continue to not care about anything he says.

His sister has cancer? Ok. Lots of people have cancer. I don't see why he's trying get some kind of pitty out of it, like now it's mandatory for people to listen to his bullshit. If anything, this shows why he is a jackass and gives even more reasons why he should be committed.

Wow Just Wow, Theres no "Low" he won't stoop to. He focus's so much on his "Sister-In-Law" that it makes me wonder if there is more Between the two then relation by marriage.

Personally, I wouldn't throw away my ~cah~rear~ For most anything. Let alone an In-Law. If I didn't already belive he was loony, I would say he has lost it.

I just want to know will he be satisfied if VIOLENT video games were taken out of the market or if he wants ALL VIDEO GAMES to be taken out of the market entirely. If that's the case so he wants a world without any video games whatsoever?? Where will it end, if the latter is true and he wants VIDEO GAMES TO DISSAPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH, then he should also go after the entertainment industry with all the violent movies and the porn industry--why isn't he doing anything about that??  Video games are here to stay and if he wants to roll back the clock to days gone by he's really out of his mind.

The Holy Trinity became angry and afflicted her with Cancer (PAT ROBERTSON STYLE). But if there had been no video games, she wouldn't have been tempted.

Hey, it makes more sense than what he wrote (I have to admit I won't take the time to read his drivel) LOL

*worlds coldest respone prize winner, right here...*

I don't give 2 shits about your friend, Pam. I hope both of her tits rot off, and she dies a slow, horribly painful death, and you're forced to watch every second of it.

I also hope the god damn worms all die when they eat that nasty bitch after she croaks. As are my feelings towards you, Thompson. ROT, BITCH!!

No one gives a rats ass what you have to say, at all, anymore.

Have a nice day! :D

And that's exactly the response Mr Thompson wants. It shows gamers as people who don't care for another person's life and are generally bad people.

He also wants to make people feel guilty that he could lose a loved one.

It's hard to make an opinion in this case. It's sort of reverse psychology both ways.

Yeah, I have to admit, that bit is "out there". In fact, it's downright creepy in a way.

But the rest of the hostility in this instance at least seems a bit unwarranted. Yes, there are the usual disclaimers. (Oh no, the games are "stealing their innocence behind their parents’ backs"! Who would have thought the parents would have had to exercise some responsibility yadda yadda yadda.) Yes, some bits sound a bit odd. (Why not talk to your own children instead of listening to your wife's younger sister's stories?)

But no, he is definitely not blaming video games for cancer now, and if that's what you think he's saying, then you've gone a bit overboard. Nor do I particularly read a "crisis of faith" in this.

Aw. I thought this topic was about Jack announcing that he was gay.

I was going to second that.

It's pathetic for him to cry over such things as a grown man. How dare he bring someone into a debate over video games that had cancer. It's a low and dirty hit to do even as a last ditch effort to gain attention. I must call him a piece of scum, not because he's against video games that are violent but how he approaches his arugment.

Pam wants me, for all the parents out there who are being ambushed by Rockstar’s child molesting games, to stop Take-Two.

This alone if it was something that he said what a freaking dickhead.

How can I put this? If I was dying and someone told me that he had been inspired by my passionate beliefs and because of me had devoted his life to, uh... stamping out the Imperial system of measurement, say, I would be touched by the gesture and flattered that he would choose to honor my life in such a way.

I'd also think it was a little weird, but I might not say that out loud.

I have to agree... Her cancer is what she gets for praying AGAINST people... true Christians are supposed to pray FOR their enemies, not against them. Jesus never taught such a thing, and he would never have done such a thing.

"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

OK, this is a flat out lie that he needs to be called on. GTA hasn't even existed for 18 years... Rockstar hasn't even existed for 18 years... Running With Scissors hasn't even existed for 18 years... Even Mortal Kombat hasn't existed for 18 years... So if he really has been fighting against the video game industry for 18 years, and on "Pam's" behalf no less, then it must've been because of arcade games like Satan's Hollow, not because of any modern games. Satan's Hollow is the only controversial video game that I can think of that has existed for 18 years. And it wasn't even violent, or anti-christian, or anti-semitic, or even anti-religious. But it was rumored that every few seconds that you played it, it would flash an evil subliminal message on the screen. Of course this was never proven, because it wasn't true, and no one ever even dared to claim what the actual subliminal message was, just that it was evil, and it was in the game. Because the game was called Satan's Hollow, instead of God's Holy Wrath. Funny how a game in which the whole point of it was to DEFEAT Satan was considered to be evil by those who claimed to want to defeat Satan. And all because of it's name. But then they probably would've been even more against it if it was called God's Holy Wrath.

You've never played a Xenosaga game, then.

But, I agree with a lot of you. Jack Thompson is basically fabricating hypocritical bull crap. Like Iron Draggon said, Jesus never taught Christian faithfuls to pray against people. Both Thompson and his sister-in-law should be ashamed.
