I'm thinking about buying their used Grey Saturn package with the hookups and controller for around $65 (with EMS shipping and all the works). I'm worrying that the system I'm getting is not going to work and it's very scrached (and the cartridge slot doesn't work). $60 for a used Japanese Saturn is cheap compair to $100 with shipping on ebay. I don't want to get rip off from these guys, and their selection of games are just great (not to metion their prices). Anyone of you guys order a used system from them, and it turn out everything was working just fine?

Also I live in the US (110V-120V), and the Saturn needs 100V to run. Do you think a extra 10-20 volts would fried the system? I really don't think so.

Thanks

There are some people who are REALLY picky about those slight voltage discrepancies, but it'll work fine.

I'll be honest with you. I orded a ton of PC Engine stuff off them recently and was pretty disappointed. All of them smelled of cigarette smoke and several manuals were damaged.

I won't buy from them again...at least not without inquiring as to condition first.

It's common for used retrogames from Japan to smell of cigarette smoke since it's such a heavily smoking country.

I recently ordered from them. I emailed them about it's condition and the next day they sent 2 high-res scans for me. I paid & received it within about 4-5 days.

So... consider me a satisfied customer.

RE: Voltage

The Saturn uses a switch-type power supply and will probably not have any issues with the slight voltage discrepency. If you plan on buying more Japanese systems, you might want to pick up a 110->100V stepdown transformer just for the added piece of mind. I got one for about $20 and use it on my Japanese systems.

I'm well aware, but I thought that, but I thought they'd have a slightly higher standard as a store. Other sellers I've dealt with haven't had this problem...which suggests to me that they buy extra nice games.

Perhaps I should have enquired more, but I really didn't think their boxed complete games would vary in condition that much. I expected not excellent, but at least good condition for all of them.

Either way...it's something that should be considered.

I've ordered from them a few times and haven't had any issues with them.

A little step up transformer is the way to go -- shouldn't have a problem with the discrepancy, but the power supply will last longer.

Is $65 really a good price? My nice white JP Saturn was all of $15.... It was bought in Japan, sure, but is shipping really $50???? I'm not disputing any of this, it's just a bit of an eye opener....

If you want to do EMS (which you most certainly do), then yes.

The Grey Saturn with one controller and all the hookups is about $25. Shipping is $40 and the only type of shipping you can use is EMS (3-6 day shipping, online tracking, and insurance). Also I must add 4% of the total cost because of Paypal. It should be around $67-$68 for the whole thing. You can save me a lot of money if you have a Japanese Saturn for sale here in the States (most of the time the prices are just crazy if people are selling them in the States).

I have no money to pay a $1,000 airline ticket to Japan just for a cheap Japanese Saturn. LOL

I've got the following all used in Japan, then used in Hawaii for thus far, about 18 months.

32" Plasma TV
Sega Saturn
Dreamcast
Xbox
Playstation 2
2 Computers
1 Monitor
1 Laptop
A bunch of shit in the kitchen.

You don't need a transformer.

But I also bet 90% of that has switchable power supplies -- for sure the compus, monitor, laptop, xbox, ps2, and tv are designed to switch between 100-240V (and everywhere inbetween) A JP Saturn and DC are 100V only. They'll run, and likely run for years, and maybe there will never be a problem -- but a transformer is safer.
