I was Playing We <3 Katamari the other day, and I noticed one of the intro screen said "Relax with Katamari." I thought to myself, gee, when was the last time a game told me to relax? I guess it's the reason I enjoy both Katamari games so much-they really are relaxing.

What games do you consider to be relaxing?

Animal Crossing. Fishing at the coastline and repeatedly catching Sea Bass (and the occasional Coelacanth) can be very relaxing.

Yeah both of those are very relaxing. But you can't forget playing with your nintendogs. :embarrassed:

I agree. I used to spend hours in that game just fishing and picking up seashells. But then I would get pissed when that dirty bastard Tom Nook's store was closed.

Animal Crossing is very relaxing. I love that game :D

I don't find katamari relaxing at all. I find it really stressful trying to roll shit up before the time runs out. I find it anti-relaxing :( (still fun though)

Yeah I remember the summer after that game came out, I would stay up all night just fishing. I would fill my basement with Red Snappers and in the morning I would make bank.

Oblivion. It's the only single player game that can pass time like an MMO and not feel tedious to me at any point. I'm right at the end and I'm doing all sorts of things to try and prolong the game before I beat it.

I found ICO to be very relaxing at times. Take a break and sit back and hear the wind blowing and the sounds of the ocean down below. Shadow of the Colossus was the same way.

Back when I played Anarchy Online, I found that there were some zones that were quite nice to look at while running through them to a mission. One that comes to mind is Clondyke.

Last night while playing Oblivion I was outside a tomb and I stopped at the entrance and turned around. I was on a hillside and there were lots of trees. I probably stood there and watched the wind blowing through the trees for a few good minutes. Even my wife was impressed by the game, and she normally does not care about these things.

The Farplane in FFX is also quite relaxing. Yeah, there is really nothing to do there, but the setting combined with the music is very nice.

Getting into a good game of Tetris, Bust A Move 4, Zoo Keeper, Yoshi's Cookie puzzle games like that, where you can just keep going and going have been known to kept me nice and relaxed.

Any free roaming 3D game w/ out time constraints. SM64, Tomb Raider, GEX Enter the Gecko, those kinds of games. Anything where there is not a time limit, an immediate threat of death, and a large environment for exploration.

Hmmmm, a video game that lets me relax. I would have to land with either Simcity or Bust-A-Move2.

It's a great time to just kick back and relax watching a city grow over time. Although sometimes it is frustrating, up til that point it's very relaxing and flowing. It's nice to lay things down and decide where simulated people can live. :)

Bust-A-Move is my chilled puzzle game. I relax all the time playing it on my Saturn and in the arcades. The best memory I have of it is kicking back in the arcade with a few buds smoking cigars while I was playing the game. I was so freaking kicking it that night!

Tetris, Columns, and oddly enough, Sonic the Hedgehog are all games I play to relax.

I love playing Mario 64, just doing random things in the game with no real goal. Brilliant.

The .hack games help me block out everything and put me in a very calm/relaxed state.

Relaxing games... Tetris definately, when I just want to sit back and not try to beat my high score or anything. Also, a lot of the classics on retro-collection discs I've got help to calm me down, like New Zealand Story on the Taito Legends collection, or Crystal Castles on the Atari Anthology disc... and a good game of Katamari Damacy does it too. LOL

EDIT: Oekaki Puzzle (Picture Puzzle) for the NGPC is also a great bring-it-down game.

Yep, Animal Crossing (mmm Red Snappers in the late arvo), Harvest Moon, Pikmin & Windwaker. Such fond memories of the early GC days. All very relaxing games and totally enthralling. Katamari is definitely along those lines. Ive gotta get a copy of ECO. Another Code & Paper Mario also have good chill out value.
