I used to love fishing games when I was a kid. There were some really good ones but I can't remember the names of any of them. I really enjoyed trolling around in a boat, keeping an eye on the depth meter and then switching to the side view of the water dragging the lure around and trying to catch something.

What's the best fishing game for NES, Genesis, or SNES?

Forget NES ,SNES or MD:

Fishing Derby (Activision for VCS), the best fishing competition game for two players.

I'm not too keen on the older ones, however the DC has a few good cheap ones that are worth checking out if you are into the genre.

Beavis and Butt-head for Genesis.

Best couch fishing game ever! :D

Yeah, if you really do want to play a fun fishing game, go right to the DC.

I think Sega Marine Fishing on the Dreamcast has yet to be even touched in terms of entertainment. Tons of unlockables to boot.

Don't play it without a fishing controller though, but the game and the controller can be had for pretty cheap on eBay ($10 - $20).

Not to mention you'll get some extra life out of the controller with Sega Bass Fishing and SBF2 which are also quite excellent.

But, that aside, The Black Bass and Blue Marlin were pretty fun back in the day. I know Super Black Bass came out on the SNES but I never played it. I can't recall playing a single fishing game on the Genesis either.

Now fishing in the Breath of Fire series for the SNES. I spent a lot of time fishing in BoF and it was fun for it's time, before Sega MArine Fishing came out on the DC. Damn those 300 lb Stingrays are a pain to catch.

Super Black Bass rules.

Another good title that I've been playing lately is Finny the Fish - not your typical fishing title.... you're the fish not the fisherman but fun :)

Is it just me or did this thread get sucked into a hole in spacetime? I had the first reply with...

For the NES - The Black Bass and The Blue Marlin. I believe a combination remake pack of these games was released on the PlayStation. The Black Bass was actually a REALLY popular series in Japan, there was a sequel on the Famicom (or was The Black Bass II the game released as The Black Bass USA on the NES..might have been - compare the roms, I'm pretty sure now that The Black Bass II JPN was The Black Bass USA) and a few on the Super Nintendo but I've never played those.

Of course the best fishing games are on the Dreamcast, Sega Bass Fishing and Sega Marine Fishing - make sure you use the fishing controller.

Also shoes23, cyberfluxor, Arcade Antics, and Avatard posted...

There is a double PSX pack! but I would also recommend Super Black Bass for the SNES as well as Bass Landing for the PS1. Bass Landing many take a while to get into (the tutorial is rather lenghty), but after you get the hand of it it's the best fishing simulator out there.

2 thumbs way up for the Dreamcast fishing games!

I only have a few PC fishing games and none for the consules. I'd suggest the DC ones though because I know they are great and worth getting the consule and games.

Totally.

And I'll throw Fishing Derby for the 2600 into the ring also - excellent 2-player game.

Yea, I second fishing derby. When my friends would come over we'd play fishing derby, bowling, football, and combat.

Beat everyone to their replies pretty much. ;)

The thread came up as usual in searching my post history - weird.

It was a double post :x

The one we posted on was:

Don't you love when people hit the submit button more than once. The solution to it is copy what you had in the text field for a post & close the window. Re-open the brouser and go to the topic thread you were posting on and if it's not there then you need to submit a new post.

Damnit. LOL The one we posted on got shoved down the chain so quick and the second one replied to so much I didn't even notice that. I knew something didn't seem right but I was too tired to sort it out. Oh well, this be a lesson to the ORIGINAL poster to check if you double post before leaving for the night so you can edit one down. I'm guessing we all replied to the original while the second post was going up - or at least in my case.

Although we were posting in the earlier thread, I guess that one can be locked since I've copied all the info over to here. Mods, please lock the following thread...

mills, please go into that thread and change the title to a please lock message. :)

Very sorry, obviously a mistake on the double post thing. I posted, got a "page not found" browser error and blah blah. Then I left for the weekend.

LOL

Won't happen again!

BTW I'm gonna pick up super black bass.

Another vote here for Sega Marine Fishing.

My favorite fishing game ever, and one of my faves from the entire Dreamcast library.
