It's funny, because I was surprised when I searched for a topic like this and didn't find one.

Anyway, I only have had 1 FF experience which was the FF8 demo disc from Musashi. I loved Squall and the other guy with the short blond hair (I forgot his name).

So maybe I'm not the best judge on this...

I know I'll get a lot of boos because she's from FFVII, but Aeris Gainsborough is who I've always gone with. From what I recall, the creator of the game wanted to make her a focal point and give a characteristic about her that would make most gamers just become emotional about her beyond belief and it worked. It was a brilliantly done character that helped to make the game amazing and one of the saddest points in gaming history. For all those that somehow never played the game I don't spoil it for you so go get it.

Nah, I never played FF7.

Ya, I heard the whole Aeris getting stabbed by Sephiroth thing was kinda emotional.

Knowing me, if I saw it, I would probably laugh at that because i never cry from Games or movies.

I have two personal favorites: Palom and Porom. They were just... fun, kinda cool, and forced a strong emotion out of me when they... ya know... turned to stone and all...

"WHATTAYAMEAN THEY'RE GONE!? I BEEFED UP THOSE LITTLE BASTARDS FOR NOTHING! AAAARRRHHHGGGG!!!"

Good times. That might have been the only time in history I chucked a controller in any bout of frustration.

Plus it was cute how one of them was always following orders and being respectful (Palom, maybe? I never remember which was which to be honest...), and the other was just kind of a jerk. LOL

Wedge and Biggs. Seeing them pop up on a FF game just feels right.

Cecil.

I say Cecil because, if I had a choice to become any FF character, it'd be him. In my eyes, he was the last true hero of Final Fantasy... always looking out for others... and always weilding the best swords and wearing the best armor.

I wanna be a paladin someday...

Cid from FF7 no doubt. I never laughed so hard in my life during some of his dialouge in the game.

Kefka is a close 2nd. EVIL!

I like Vivi from FF9. I'm not going to spoil anything from the game, but when you find out what's going on with his race you're just wtf... he's got a lot of emotion given you can't see his face. (Plus I dig his retro-ness :D)

My second favorite is Rikku 8-) Her mix ability was really useful and fun towards the end of ffx.

Here she is as the gambler from FFx-2:

My wife's favorite character is Yuna. I can see it too, her summons are pretty badass in ffx (I love the magus sisters summon!)

Gafgarion from FF tactics was rather "ill" I remember thinking I was going to go the opposite way of him so I took all his armor and crap then when I fought him I kicked his ass.

Yeah, I'd have to say Cecil myself. After all, his character develops the most out of all the other Final Fantasy characters, if you ask me.

Also I like Cid.

Sabin - although he did have a seizure inducing special move. I remember as a kid, staying up late playing FFIII in the dark, and my eyes would be just shot from the constant flashing.

I have no problem selling out and saying Sephiroth.

Black mage from the original game. I know he didn't have a real name or huge story with him, but he was the badass of the original. Since it was the first one I played I love it the best. That and I have to defend having him on my shoulder for the rest of my life.

Mine is Kefka. Such a bad, bad dude.

I admit, FF7 and Aeris also made me cry. I was 11, and didn't see it coming.

Kefka- What a horrible maniac. His nastiness was off the chart.

Sephiroth- possibly one of the best bad guys ever. So silent, well thought out and deadly. His fall into insanity was amazing to watch.

Cecil- For some reason his plight just worked for me. Looking at the other main characters, Tera from FFVI was a bore as was Cloud from VII. I skipped VIII and IX and went right to X. Titus was ok but no where as good as Cecil.

Auron- What an amazing character. Quiet, well spoken, bad ass, what a cool character to have in your party.

Does she make good pancakes? :D
But for real, did she make that costume? That's freaking hot as hell!

FF3 - Fu So Ya - I mean come on, he's Tellah and Rosa all mashed into one! Plus, he melts into a puddle when he dies.

FF4 - General Leo - Although he jumped on the "leaving the Empire" bandwagon a little late in the game, he definitely made an impact. The short time you're in control of the "lion" is one of my favorite (and least favorite) parts of the game. Spent months looking for a way to enlist him into my party.

FF7 - Vincent - Rawr! He's a pistoleer, no wait, he's a vampire, no wait, he's a a Frankenmonster! Who knows wtf you are Vinny, but you rock sir.

FF8 - Quistis - Hot. Teacher. CCG player. Whip wielder. Enough said.

FF9 - Amarant - Who doesn't love the token "bad guy gone good"? First dreadlocked character (I think) to ever grace the Final Fantasies.

Ive got to give it to Edgar in VI, hes just so over the top and has some great lines.
