View Full Version : What's more Next Gen: Graphics or Control?
I've been playing Metroid Prime on my Nintendo DS and have had a great time playing with my thumb stylus. I don't think I have had such an easy time playing a FPS or a Non FPS? Are better graphics more next gen than better control. I think the touch screen itself feels more like next gen than the Xbox graphics.
Tough one.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the Xbox 360 kicks the shit out of anything before it by a LARGE margin (based on what you've got it hooked up to)....and let's assume that we're seeing the "shitty" 360 games right now. The next-gen graphics are only going to get better......
.......but control. When you're talking something like a DS, I feel that the next gen control was far more beneficial and rewarding than the pimped out graphics of the 360. Funny enough, I love my 360.....but consider the controller to be the biggest overengineered piece of shit I've ever used. I DETEST the 360 controller and it's ridiculous "command center". But I have to just lump it, because I don't see anyone coming out with a controller that doesn't feature it, anytime soon. LOL

Neither. To me it will be developers actually USING the power of the machine to provide content, play experience, design and thought that isn't possible on the current-gen.
Oblivion. Now there's a good example.
Sure better graphics are nice, and better control is definitely wanted (looking forward to the Rev controller) but content is where it's at for me :)

The big problem with controls today is that the games we play today are based on 10 year old control scheme. To me, control is next gen. Graphics will always look better as systems progress. Truly next gen to me will be when we play video games in a different way. I look forward to what the Revolution offers...
