View Full Version : Who would you cast?

One of the things I always find myself doing is come up with ideas for actors I would have play in video game movie adaptations.

In the past, games usually looked to movies for inspiration (Metal Gear, Mortal Kombat). Times are changing now, with movies turning to video games for new inspiration.

The question I ask you all today is rather simple. Who would you cast in a movie adaptation of your favorite game? It doesn't have to even be your favorite game, it could be your least favorite game (sounds like another thread I started LOL)

And don't be afraid to recast a game thats already been turned into a movie. God knows some of those films needed a better casting director.

And it doesn't have to stop at actors. Have an idea for a director for the film? Wouldn't it be cool if John Carpenter directed the Metal Gear movie? Oh wait, he did already. I think it was called Escape From Seattle or something. LOL

I'll have a go at it.

Max Payne:

Actor - Bruce Willis - I know I know, he was the inspiration for the character. That is why I cannot see anyone else in the role. It's so custom made.

Director - Quentin Tarantino - Most likely another inspiration for the game. I would love to see him direct this one.

Ok fellas, after writing all this I'm actually getting a vibe that it's been done before. But then again, what hasn't here at the roundtable? I hope it hasn't, but if it has, lets all have fun with it anyway. For ShinobiMan's sanity. Thank you. @_@

Metal Gear Solid starring David Hayter. Seriously Snake has a one of a kind voice and just look at him:

Sure he's a writer, not an actor, but that can be fixed.

Heh, I actually agree as well Njiska :P

Obviously Snake's voice is extremely unique, and whenever I see someone attempt to copy it, they always fail. I've seen people get close, but its just not Snake. Hayter is the only one that can do Snake's voice, and luckly, David Hayter actually has the looks to pull of Snake's appearance as well.

It's a win-win situation with David.

He just needs some acting lessons or something.

Sephiroth= Triple H. I reckon that could work rather well, despite Trips's decidedly non-anime/non-human nose.

Otacon (MGS)= Michael Shanks? Stereotyping maybe.

I can definitely see both of those.

Anyone got any other ideas for actors starring in video games?

Yeah, this post is bascially a bump.

Would Keira Knightley as Jo Dark be too obvious? Ditto Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti?

...That said though, Samuel L. Jackson is the ONLY person who can play Tenpenny, animated or otherwise. :)

Actually, going back to the Solid Snake actor, I would personally suggest Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine on the X-Men movies. He looks VERY similar to the game version of Snake, his attitude and personality are VERY similar to Snake (a bad ass that doesn't give a crap about anyone, but yet he does care at times), and plus his voice is also very rugged and deep, just like David's when he does his Snake voice.

Also, I think that Jet Li would make an awesome Kung Lao if another Mortal Kombat movie was made. The reason why I suggest him is because on the movie Hero Jet Li looks very similar to Kung Lao on it.

Mario = Ron Jeremy. Honestly, seperated at birth.

And whether or not the Mario movie sucked, Bob Hoskins did do an amazing job as mario. Also, David Bowie would make a decent Sephiroth (in a fantasy world where Bowie is still young).

But the number one I want to recommend? Christopher Walken as Professor Oak.

I'm gonna get flamed like crazy for this one...

Splinter Cell, Sam- Vin Diesel. Say what you want, but he was killer as Riddick! That, and A man Apart was sweet!

Halo, Master Chief- Jason Statham. however, I think that may be an insult to Jason Statham. He and Clive Owen are my absolute favorite actors!

And as much of an insult it owuld be to his career, if they did a Need for Speed Carbon or Most Wanted movie, Clive Owen all the way!

Megaman: the Motion Picture

Starring Christopher Plummer as Dr. Light

Also starring F. Murray Abraham as Dr. Wiley

Rock, Roll, and Blues would all be played by nobodies. Fresh robots, fresh faces. Probably juvenile actors.

Actually, I was writing this one for a while....
