God these disks are going downhill..
Xbox Playable Demo:
Hitman: Blood Money
Xbox 360 Playable Demo:
Timeshift
Videos:
Crackdown
The Outfit
Commandos: Strike Force
Full Auto
Download:
Crackdown Xbox 360 Gamer Pictures
Hitman Blood Money is pretty fun, very nice graphics.
I was thinking the exact same thing when I tossed the new disc in. (360)
I liked the unlockable video clips extra that they had up until two issues ago. The one that ran as a slide show with the cool bass music. Now they have the new format where they load as static pictures that you have to manually scroll through. There are what look like moving wet drops all through the pictures...some sort of glitch? They don't appear at any other time on any other media format.
I know that the 360 doesn't exactly have the massive library yet.....but some variety in the preview movies would be nice. Unfortunately, I know that OXM only get what they're given by developers. Ditto for demos.
Still...it's better than getting no disc at all, and the interesting developer interviews make up for the crap I 'spose.
Yeah I haven't bothered with OXM anymore... not enough junk in it to read up..
Not even a poster to add some buzz... so now I'm getting EGM, cheaper, and once in a blue moon a poster I'll like.

This one actually came with a Tomb Raider one, but I get your point.

I dunno about y'all, but my disc came in a regular paper n' clear plastic sleeve. No cardboard sleeve with art or info.

Live Marketplace has really hurt their discs I think. They're always repeating. I think Full Auto and Timeshift were the only ones we had on disc before download since the launch.

If its the height of a DVD case and twice as thin... thats normal retail packing... the subscribers get the cardboard sleeves.

No, I'm talking CD/DVD disc sized, OEM-style white flimsy paper sleeve with a circular piece of clear plastic in the middle to show you the disc inside.

That sucks for subscribers :(

not really, their mags cost a fraction of the retail, and they just haven't been able to negotiate anything with the postal service since its too expensive

I dig the postal expense, but I don't think the price of the subscriptions should matter. Magazines make most of their profits from advertisements. They love subscribers because that way they can guarentee to the advertisers a certain number, and get paid more as a result. If no one subscribed, advertisers would pay less because they wouldn't be guarenteed a certain audience. So really magazine publishers are better off with subscribers even with the lower price tag.
But I see what you mean about the postal aspect. I wonder how much it would really cost extra to ship though.

I would never buy off retail because of those cases. I have such a nice stack of the green ones 8-)
Only missing 3 I think..

I don't think it is that bad. The company is going through a transition. All availible 360 demos have been released.
I personally thought while short on the playable demos the video of the upcoming games were awesome.
The crackdown video look crazy. I almost will have to play it before I believe it. I personally can live with the off month. The opm mag rehases alot of demos well after there release. I personally don't like having the same demo popping up on different discs.
Toss in the fact that the renewals fee dropped to 24.99.

I only mentioned the subscribers price because you said "that sucks for them" but really, the mag is cheap for them anyway.

Dropped? They've been that price for a while. Every time I resubscribed it's been $24.99.

Well price dropped after may of last year when I renewed. I been subscribing for years and it has always been 29.99 for 1 year. The cheaper subscriptions came without the discs.

You know, now that I think about it, I do recall the resubscription rate being $29.99. However the blow-in subscription cards in the magazine were still the $24.99 price, which got me mad. I checked the cards and I didn't see any fine print stating I couldn't get that price, so I think I called OXM, explained the situation, and got the $24.99 price.
