Is there a way to have multiple people (all on the same console) play on Xbox Live on the 360?

I know that it worked with the original Xbox...player 1 would be the person with the account and then the other players (ports 2-4) would show up as guests (or have a similar name as the account holder).

My cousin and I tried to play some online Perfect Dark, but it would only let me in and we couldn't find an option to have 2 players.

Any help would be appreciated.

might only be with some games, like the original xbox. I have 2 accts on my 360 and have yet to get 2 players on the same box online.

Kinda bummed me as my friend and I really wanted to play DOA 4 online.

It should atleast work with 2 accounts, but it doesnt.

Ghost Recon is the only game I know of that definitely has support for guests. There may be others that can support multiple XBL accounts at the same time (but not actual guests), but I don't know of any specifically.

Top Spin 2 supports this as well, though only with unranked matches.

AFAIK, PDZ does support multiple gamertags. It does this in the same manor that Quake 4 and GRAW do. At least the menu is the same.

I know in DOA4 it asks if you want to continue with or without another account, which I wish they all did.

I am not in front of my console right now, but I have had multiple people with different accounts playing split screen PDZ on Live.

This is one pet peeve I have with Live on the 360, every single game makes this difficult.

Even in an offline, two-player game like Mutant Storm, this is a confusing mess.

So basically what I'm reading here, it's only possible in some games AND each person has to have their own account?

How do you go about making a second account on your Xbox. Also, does it have to be a second LIVE account (paying for another year of service), or is it just another username?

Not exactly. Some games require each person to have a Live account, other allow for guests the same way the original Xbox did with Halo 2 and others. As far as setting up a second account, you can start a whole other account via one of your profiles, or set up a second pre-existing account.

Ok...I see.

Thanks guys for the info. :)

I think they did it that way so one could, in theory, take their profile over to another person's house, and login to Live using their own account. That way, you can play and still gain achievements, keep track of stats, etc. Unfortunately, it makes the multiplayer on a single console more confusing than it used to be (it was simply plug and play before). Also, to "bring along" your account I think you need the memory card, which at $40 is a total rip.
