.... over and over again? :) The best replayability for you personally. The ones that even if you've completed (or perhaps not) you still to this day enjoy playing on a regular basis. excluding any currant gen systems and games. (PS2,Xbox etc)
(forgive me if this has already been discussed I just thought it would be an interesting topic:) )

Hmm, the games I always find myself returning to? Well, we'll do this by system.

Sega Genesis - Shinobi 3 - A masterful game that awed me as a kid . I didn't beat it till I was 16 though, which should tell ya I keep coming back to it.

SMS - Fantasy Zone - This game is just so beautiful to look at. It's a work of art really. The colors duke, the colors!

NES - Mega Man 2 - One of my all tiem favorite games as a child and I still love it today. Play it at least once a year.

Super Nintendo - Bart's Nightmare - I know, weird huh? I just love this game and find it enduring.

Sega Saturn - Nights - There is something so magical about this one. The same magic Sega worked back in the glory days.

Jaguar - Alien VS. Predator - I still can't get over how incredible the atmosphere is.

Anyways, just a note to DragsOnfyre, this is a topic I'm most definitely sure has been done before. It will probably be locked. It's a good one though, and it brings us back to the question... why lock a good thread regardless of whether it was done 3 years ago? Heh.

I'm color blind, kid.

Sega Saturn- Outrun

Nothing like hearing some magical sound shower.

My brother and I *still* play M.U.L.E. for the Commodore 64 on a regular basis. It's just that good.

Other than that, I've just finished running through Final Fantasy I through IV again (using the English fan translation for III) as they will continue to be great classics.

Some other odds and ends that I still enjoy playing on a regular basis: Galaga '90 (TG16), Tempest 2000 (Jaguar), Tetris/Dr. Mario (SNES), Super Mario All-Stars (SNES), BC's Quest For Tires (C64), Space Taxi (C64), and Bubble Bobble (PS1) to name a few.

GAIN GROUND (Genesis). That is all.

LOL

But seriously, some other great replayables would include:

-King of Dragons (SNES)
-Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES)
-Flashback (SNES / Genesis)
-King's Knight (NES)
-Soldier of Fortune (SNES)
-Contra: Hard Corps (Genesis)

And not sure if these would be past the cut off or not, but:

-Super Smash Bros. (N64)
-Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSX)

My personal picks are:

- Legendary Wings (NES)
- Mega Man 2 (NES)
- Magic of Scheherazade (NES)
- Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis)
- Super Castlevania IV (SNES)

I play these games about once a year on average, but SOR2 I probably play even more often. :)

I still play Capcom's Soccer Shootout (SNES) on a weekly basis with people. Best 2-player game ever.

I know it's cliche, but I always come back to the Marios, Mega Mans (Men?), Zeldas, and NBA Jams.

WOW. I didn't expect to see CSS on here. I thought it looked good, and so I bought it. Got actually about 3 weeks ago, heh. Took me a while, it's fairly uncommon (but cheap) At any rate I have yet to play it... but have high hopes for it. After reading your comments, I have even more faith that it'll be a classic quality Capcom game.

BTW, have you tried Capcom's MVP Football? Is that any good?

I still play WORLD HEROES PERFECT occasionally. Been playing the Saturn version since 1999.

Always come back to it... 8-)

Like ShinobiMan I'll list by system...

NES - Tecmo Superbowl. This game is still one of the most fun I have ever played in my life.

SNES - Super Mario Kart. From time to time I still try to beat my records. I probably played this more than any other game on the system.

Genesis - Gunstar Heroes. Nothing else really like it anywhere.

Sega CD - Snatcher. My all-time favorite game and my most treasured posession.

Saturn - Guardian Heroes. My favorite Saturn game.

Arcade - Ms. Pac Man and Galaga. My favorite arcade games of all time.

Well, Ninja Gaiden 2, of course, for the NES.
Castlevania 3 as well.
All of my Mario games (yes, even Yoshi's Island).
Duck Hunt every now and again I'll play it.
My Zelda games are fun, and I come back and play them every now and again.
However, if I hadn't lost my Donkey Kong games, I'd still be playing those (I like Donkey Kong more then Mario...I'm not sure why, but it was just sooo much FUN).
I don't replay most of my RPGs except everyone once in a while.

NES - Dusty Diamonds All Star Softball, Excitebike, Ring King, Punch Out
SNES - Baseball Simulator 1.000 (I love making my own team), Super Mario World

Shark! Shark! always brings me back for more even if I do end up turning it off because I gain more lives then I can get rid of. But I also love going back to Contra I can only beat it with the code but its still great to play and remember all the good times with it. Also Double Draogn 2 ranks up there pretty high.

WOW. I didn't expect to see CSS on here. I thought it looked good, and so I bought it.

Seriously, I've probably played this game more than all other video games combined. The one-player mode is all right, but the two player modes are fantastic and completely unmatched by later releases. Yeah, new versions of FIFA/FIFA Street/etc look great, but they don't have the intensity that Capcom has.

We don't even like soccer! That's the best part. It's just a damn good game.

It's even the basis for my AIM screen name (capcomsoccer). How sad is that?

BTW, have you tried Capcom's MVP Football? Is that any good?

AWFUL. Absolutely horrible. Worse than "Touchdown Fever." After really getting into CSS over a decade ago, I naturally grabbed MVP Football. What a mistake. Every so often, I'll break it out, and it never improves over time (not sure why it would, but you know...). It's gotten so little use, I still have the original box/manual/paperwork from when I first bought it, which I typically didn't save until the N64. If you're looking for American football on the SNES, stick with Super High Impact, Madden, and the Tecmo Super Bowls.

Dreamcast-MSR
Every time I play it, I get a little bit further, but never finish it. One day I will. I just wish it was today.

Saturn-Magic Knight Rayearth
I cant understand Japanese, but having the gameplay elements that it does, it's a fun game to play and looks nice.

SNES-Ogre Battle
While it's aged, I still consider it to be the closest thing to perfection on the system. One day, I will beat this as well.

NES-Zanac
Great shooter. Very hard as well. Every time I play it I always find it to be enjoyable though.

Gameboy-Tetris
It never changes, it's always the same, yet no two games are ever alike. It has chalenge, it has difficulty, and it's still fun now.

NBA Jam: Tournement Edition (SNES)
House of the Dead 2 (DC, nothing like a little light gun action)
Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX, one of my favorite games ever. I have so many memories playing this game.)
SaGa Frontier (PSX, my favorite RPG that no one else likes.)

Haven't been playing much lately but I find myself drifting back to a couple of PC games (Diablo II and Heroes of Might & Magic III). As for consoles, mostly stick with SMB 3 (NES), Super Mario World (SNES), Dragon Warrior (NES), and Goldeneye (N64).

I think the most replayability is found with games that can't really be "beat". Like classic arcade games or Activision games for the 2600 (although I guess some talented folks can max out the score on them.)

My three favorite videogames of all time:

Seaquest (Atari 2600)
Time Pilot (Arcade and various ports)
Xevious (Arcade and various ports)

These are games I can play relatively easily, on a real system (i.e. I have the system out, not packed away and the cartridge in storage).

Genesis: Atomic Runner, Shadow Dancer (Non Shuriken mode only for me, still working on beating the final boss at the default difficulty level!), Revenge of Shinobi (dunno where my cart's at right now), Contra, and Castlevania: Bloodlines, rarely.

NES: Jackal, Castlevania, and more, but I don't have this one plugged in right now. I should get an AV Famicom and play some of those games, too.

Xbox: Um...I go back to whatever I've got now and again. Otogi 2, and I still should finish Ninja Gaiden sometime. Otogi's got some old-fashioned replayability, though, with the times, scores, and character building.

GameCube: Residnent Evil has a surprising amount of replay value. I'd like to work on the sub-5 and 3-hour times. Gonna be tough. I'd better play as Chris. I think I'm mostly burned through RE4, even though I didn't finish Pro with the new guns.

Game Boy series: All sorts of stuff. I haven't touched my GBA Metroid cartridges in a long while, though. Started to gain interest in Super GnG Advance, and I need to get back to Ninja Five-O. I have some work to do on some classic GB games like The Castlevania Adventure (need to one-life it someday), Contra (erm, 'Probotector') and Belmont's Revenge (need to beat that too).

SNES: Haven't played anything on it for a while. Too much hassle to drag it out.

Game Gear: Only game I've played for any amount of time was Shinobi 2. I'd play Sylvan Tale, but can't read Japanese, which takes away much of the fun (especially considering I don't think it'd have much replay value).

For me it's the Diablo-type hack & slash dungeon quests, esp. if the dungeons are randomized. There's something about finding/buying weapons/armor/etc.

Diablo (PS)
DarkStone (PS)
Champions of Norrath: RoE (PS2)

I played through Baldur's Gate (PS2) 2x, then sold it. Good game though. I got rid of it & Darkstone recently, still wondering if I'll regret it.

Right now I'm on my 4th-go-round in CoN:RoE w/ a 4th character (female High Elf Cleric). I've played thru Diablo just as many times, my characters are all around Lvl 30.

I also try to play the multiple-ending games (Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc) to see all the endings.

BTW- VACRMH- great avatar! ;)

For me, the ultimate crack will always be the first Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast. I STILL play it offline to this day. Great memories give me the warm and fuzzies of a familiar game world. Gotta find a legit Spread Needle. It drives me.

Gran Turismo 1 and 2. Need I say more? Inertial drifting in cars that you get to tune yourself.

World Driver Championship on the N64. The "other" Turismo. It's damned hardcore....kiddie system, my ass.

Hot Shots Golf. Any of them.

Sega Marine Fishing on Dreamcast. "Select a lure. Select a cast point!" Man, I love this game. The aquarium is a touch of genius.

S-H-E-N-M-U-E. The greatest gaming experience of my life. Thankyou Yu Suzuki. Please give us another one soon.

Saturn:
-Street Fighter Zero 3: My favorite video game of all-time. I can't get enough. I always fire it back up for a few sessions against the cpu or my buddies.

N64:
-NBA Hangtime. My friend and I are an unstoppable team. In almost 400 games, we've only been defeated about a dozen times by the cpu, and only been defeated once by humans. Simple and satisfying gameplay.

Genesis:
-Streets of Rage 2: A no-brainer, really. The best beat-em-up game ever made.
-Contra Hard Corps
-Castlevania Bloodlines

SNES:
-Contra III
