I collected exclusivly for portables until...about 4 years ago.
I was only interested in the GB, GBC,GBA, gamegear, and the turboexpress.

...Mostly GameBoy.

A title like this isn't going to bring much traffic to this topic, you should change the title to "Anyone collect for handhelds only?"

And get some more text in the topic, like saying if you collect for handhelds only or not.

Edit:

As for me, i don't collect for handhelds (Just yet, i may collect for PSP sometime in the future) But i play handhelds now and then, it's worth it to have them.

I know this is not the kind of reply you wanted, but actually I'm the other way around; I don't play handhelds much at all, they make my neck hurt. O_O

I pretty much only buy handheld games. Since I only own a GBASP. LOL

But yeah, all my games and their boxes are in near mint condition... except for Konami Arcade Advanced, which was squished when I bought it from a former friend, and a used Golden Sun with Gamestop's awful stickers.

I only collect Game and Watches, really.

And the only games I play are emulated on my PSP when I'm on my hour long commute to and from work :)

I started a WTT thread yesterday in buying and selling for a Neo Geo Pocket and games.

I never really thought about it, but I guess I am a HAND-HELD CONSOLE FAN!

I pretty much only collect for handhelds. I have console games, and a decent NES collection, but I only actively seek out handheld games.

Right now my focus is Game Boy. I get SuperVision games when I can, but it ain't often :P

Funny how when people say handhelds these days they think of relatively modern handheld consoles like the Gameboy, Gamegear, PSP, etc.

To me though, "handheld" collecting on a classic gaming board should mean the truly hard to find stuff :P

I collect both, but I give priority to my handheld collection. If I have a choice between a rare Genesis game and a common complete portable game for pretty much any system, I'll go for the common. Its more of a challenge to find complete handheld games and I like a challenge.

I collect for handhelds, but not exclusively. For some reason handhelds come second to proper consoles, as I just can't justify paying more or less the same amount for sub-standard games. Not saying handheld games are sub-standard, but many titles you get these days tend to be cut-down versions of the proper ones.

The only handheld games I tend to buy tend to be RPG's as I don't feel guilty wasting £30 on a game, as I know I will be getting plenty of hours worth of play out of them. PSP games are also the exception to the rule, but only certain games.

Personally, I think portable games should be half the price that they are now. I honestly can't see who really pays £30+ for a GBA game which has poor gameplay and crappy graphics, and can be completed in a matter of hours. To me, teh only GBA games worth buying are first party Nintendo titles; Games that have plenty of come-back appeal (Ie, games like Mario Power Tennis or Warioware); Or RPG's (Sord Of Mana; Zelda; Pokemon Etc) ~ The usual EA / THQ film port is just not worth that kind of money.

Lately I have felt that there are a few more games worth the money. With the improvement of technology (PSP / DS), games now seem worth buying. Even the rereleases of old games (Mario 64 DS / Ridge Racer Etc) seem to be be worth the money and effort. But for the majority, they are just poor games knocked out and sold to people with more money than sense. You just have to look at how many film / Tv licences have been abused by publishers who have knocked out a poor sub-standard game just for the hell of it (EA and THQ seem to be the main culprits where this is concerned!)

I've pretty much stopped collecting stuff for consoles. I live in a tiny place and a have a lot of stuff in storage now.

Funny... I didn't much like handhelds until I got an N-Gage. I never played by Game Boy (B&W) because of the dark screen (even though many of the old games are awesome.) Same for NGPC... I just don't dig screens that light up. I collected for Game Gear for awhile but the GG screen isn't so great so I stopped that, too. Then I got the N-Gage and realized I could play all the B/GBC and GG games on a CLEAR and WELL-LIT screen and I was hooked. Now I collect for N-Gage and that's about it. Until the Zodiac I want, that is.

:D
