Stories like this should make the news more often. I'm sick of "previews" which are really nothing more than an unofficial advertisements.

I don't see how Gamespy is at fault here. The guy who did the preview apparently thought the game was going to turn out to be very good.

Oh man, that is quite amusing indeed. The Inquirer writing about journalistic integrity.

Satan must be pretty cold right about now.

Eh, I think I'll pass up the chance to throw this one into GameSpy Forums.

But I recently was ragging on the reviewers a bit.

The original Morrowind got a 4.5/5 score - nearly 'perfect.' Oblivion only gets a 4/5 score, and the review was pretty much, as Mountain Man said in this topic (http://www.forumplanet.com/gamespy/topic.asp?fid=6005&tid=1869319), a bitchfest. I'm blessed to be playing Oblivion on a PC, and I've played Morrowind on both PC and XBox (mostly on Xbox). Haven't seen any of the troubles I had with Morrowind on the Xbox, but if I remember right they didn't really make a distinction for the PC version. Yeah, I've had crash bugs, but I've only (!) got a gig of memory (and I cheat so I can carry around 3000+ weight units of crap!). I think the real issue is that the game's doing so much more than other games out there - all this crazy RPG stuff, tons of items onscreen and things moving about with the havok physics engine (main source of slowdown), and on top of all that, you can load up anything at any time. Just click a button and suddenly you're wearing a different suit of armor. Crazy!

Regardless, I often check out GameSpy reviews. But I read quite often that even many GameSpy Forums regulars consistently say that they trust GameSpy less than they used to, and won't read the reviews.
