Im traveling around on the plains and it and I step forward for a while and every 1-3(or shorter) mins it says loading area each time . And it takes so much time to load up my games that I get a nice amount to play tetris ds , The loading times werent so bad when I started out but now they are unbearable. Should I just return my copy of the game back to the store? (laughs i just got the game yesterday :/ )

I get a ton of loading messages, but I never have any problems with them. This is the PC version. I have no experience with the 360 version. Have you tried going to Elderscrolls.com to have a look at their forums? They may have an answer for ya.

If you're having long load times, try holding "A" down when you boot the system and game. This clears out the system's cache, which should solve the loading problems. It worked for me--so now I simply hold down "A" whenever I boot up Oblivion. No problems since.

A clarification:
Pressing "A" to clear the cache while the game boots up only works by starting the game from the Xbox menu screen. If you start the 360 by using the controller, the "A" button isn't activated soon enough.

Like stressboy, I get loading pretty frequently in the wild, but only for a second or two at a time. I'm on a system with 1 GB of RAM.
I imagine it's far worse on the Xbox 360. Mmm-hmm, yup, that 360 version sure is equal to or superior

Playing on PC, with 1gb of ram as well. I get the loads alot as well but they are usually quick enough that I don't mind too much.

I never had one loading qualm with the 360 version over 100 hours of gaming. The "Loading area" message never gave me any more than a hiccup, never a pause.

Same here, but I'm also lugging around about five sets of armor at a time. I even get stable framerates when I use the item duplication bug to launch dozens of swords about the place. >)
no loading problems here, once in a while it takes longer then I'd like, but then who likes loading screens at all?

Do what they said!! It will fix it instantly.
I'm on a 360.
My first time through the game, I played a Breton male with heavy armor, who always carried everything but the proverbial kitchen sink. Load times were a bit slow sometimes.
THIS time around I'm playing a female elf with light armor...way nimbler character since she's only running about 70 lbs worth of gear max, and I don't pick up unnecessary junk....and for some reason the load times don't appear to be so "chuggy", but then again, I'm not a tech guy.
I have cleared my cache from a cold boot on the console itself, however, and it seemed to have helped.

I'm wishing that there were some form of cache reset for the PC version of the game... :S

Dump those 'deeds' for house furnishings in the desk!
And yeah, that pretty much describes my character to a tee.
One thing I don't like right now is the overabundance of useless loot (just like Morrowind) - I'm starting to have to drop daedric weapons on dead enemies, and selling too many knicknacks to the traders just slows down the trade window's opening. Combine the weight of daedric stuff with the low funds traders have available for buying stuff, and you'll be doing a lot of leapfrogging in the Planes of Oblivion. Maybe glass and elven stuff is better for making sales. Doesn't much matter to me 'cuz I just ~tgm my way through that stuff.
PROTIP: When bartering and you have some very expensive items and some not-so-expensive items, sell items above the seller's gold limit first (unless you're an expert of mercantile and they always have more gold available - I'm not sure exactly how that works, but that's what the load screen says) to drive up their regard for you. Once you're at 100%, push the Haggle slider to about the middle, a little bit towards the Easy side. Sell something cheap like an iron arrow (if you don't have any then buy some from the seller), and keep pushing the slider right one notch each new sale. At some point you'll see "offer refused," and then you need to click the slider TWICE to the left (Easy), sell something to get their regard back up to 100%, and then pull the Haggle slider one step towards Hard again.
There's probably a formula for determining what your maximum haggling will be at certain levels of Mercantile and Personality, but this is fairly easy to do (if a bit time consuming). Naturally, cast charm spells before you start trading (interestingly enough I do all this without charm...hmm).
Yeah, I'm actually surprised at the amount of "meh" stuff in the game. My Breton had the house in Bruma crammed with stuff, but I never used it. I don't like the way that you can't put stuff onto shelves in Oblivion. If you drop, stuff goes flinging across the room in messy piles. I also wish that you could grab candles and lanterns. My house in Balmora was hyper bright because I stuffed candles and lanterns into every available space, just for laughs.
Oblivion is so radically different than Morrowind. My Breton was created according to Morrowind skillsets. My new Elf is created with skillsets more pleasing to Oblivion. This character is a whole 'nother game entirely. This time around I'm going to ignore the central quest until last, and keep the main Oblivion Gate open for as long as possible. I also don't do any random looting of caves and forts. Last time, I closed out the central quest ASAP.
So many ways to play. It turned out to be a damned good purchase.

First off, is this the PC version or xbox 360 version, and if the 360 one, Is it regular or limited edition?

In my PC version it does that all the time, but takes 1-2 seconds tops to load.
Also, in regards to selling... I see the seller has (IE 800) gold, but I always sell them much more than that and that number never changes...
WTF?

I went with the memory cache advice , thanks dudes. (who bought the special edition 70 bucks for a coin and a history of morrowind book seems much)

You can just restart the PC. You can also use a memory and cache cleaner too :)

First time EVER playing the game in about 23 hours of playtime (PC verision) I started to get really laggy... I had been playing for about 2.5 hours straight and must have filled the cache up or something! I even noticed my PC was up a few degrees more than normal!
I rebooted and all is fine. Strange though.

I play it only on the 360. It loads a new area every couple of feet but there is almost no wait. I did have one problem though. The game froze on me ( I can't remember where I was) and I had to shut off the 360. Hopefully it's a one time thing. I had lots of freezing problems with my old xbox.

I play the game on pc with 512mb of ram. Load times are damn quick. Sometimes when the game's just been started, it's slower, but after 5 minutes of play, the little loading bar usually instantly finishes anywhere I go.
