Well, I've been using it for a few months now, and I've used it for playing movie files that I have burnt onto CD-Rs. However, I was wondering if it was possible to burn movie files onto DVD-Rs aswell, since all my attempts so far have failed. Is there a special procedure I have to do in order to do this? The Xbox is supposed to read DVD-Rs...

If you have an older X-box the drive may be picky as to what media or even brand it will read. Also, I beleive for it to read it there are some pretty specific burn settings. check out www.xbox-scene.com they may have a better answer there

ISO9660 (i think that's the right number) or UDF will work fine.

Although some Xbox drives, Samsung i think, have trouble with DVD+RW.

I always just throw mine on the disc and it works. However the better option would be to just stream the files over the network using normal windows file sharing.

Sounds like that what I'll have to do. Just found out that it doesn't read DVD-R discs... isn't that insane? It might just be the brand though...

Thanks for all the help guys.

EDIT:
Would it be possible to buy a new drive off of eBay and install it? My Xbox is only soft-modded, so would it still work?

Probably. Again Xbox-Scene is the place to get your answers. They have an excellent tutorial section.

It all depends on the type of DVD rom in your xbox. For instance mine won't read any type of CD-Rs, but will read DVD+/-R/W just fine.

As was said, check out xbox-scene.com

The last time I tried it was HARD HARD HARD HARD!

I have tried many times to do that with a soft modded system and failed. there seems to be no easy solution. Also Xbox-scene is pretty much the only place I've found for info on "How-To's" with most anything but alot of there stuff is outdated. Check the forums there. it's your best bet.
