According to the 'RE (Series)' entry in Wikipedia, regarding the cancelled RE GBC port,

The game is now only available as a ROM image for Game Boy emulators.

Does anyone know where I can find this ROM if it actually exists? Thanks!!

Wikipedia says it was cancelled? Oh dear... anyhow, yes the game was actually released and it's out there to buy. Just search Amazon for example, or eBay :)

It may have seemed so late because it didn't get released until 6 months after the GBA came out...

Are you talking about RE Gaiden or the port of the original RE? I know Gaiden was released on GBC but I'm pretty sure the other one was canceled. Had something to do with it not having the same creepiness as the console version. I think that's the one the OP was talking about.

Yup the RE1 remake for GBC was canned. It looked good though. RE Gaiden was pretty bad imo.

No, no, no, not that Gaiden crap. I'm talking about the 3d port. Wikipedia says THAT one has roms floating around (it wasn't actually finished, though.)

I remember seeing pictures of it in magazines, but am positive it was canceled.

RE Gaiden was released, and was the stupid boat one, right?

That describes Resident Evil: Dead Aim pretty well, too.

Screens for those of you haven't seen them can be viewed here:

Yeah...I was just kind of wondering about the ROM because, normally, wikipedia's video game info is pretty reliable (can't say that about ALL wikipedia, though.)
Interesting note (from the wikipedia entry):

As both HotGen and Capcom felt that the game was of too poor quality to produce, a replacement title, Resident Evil Gaiden, was developed with the Game Boy Color's limits in mind.

I don't download gameboy roms, so can't tell you if it's reliable.
Interestingly enough, they have EBGames links selling it LOL

That's Deadly Silence, a remake for the DS, not the GBC remake. That's also why EB has a selling link for it. The GBC version was simply 'Resident Evil.' I'm beginning to think that the wikipedia entry was false and that this shall prove fruitless... :/

I remember thinking how incredible the game looked, especially for a GBC game. I sure do hope a proto pops up for it, it would be interesting to see what could have been.

RE1? I could have sworn it was a port of RE2 they were working on at the time, before RE Gaiden. As I recall, they claimed they got a little too ambitious about fitting everything on a GBC cart. (It was, after all, RE2 that got ported to the N64, Game.com , and everywhere else.)

(There was a Dino Crisis GBC game, though, wasn't there?)
