I got this game last week and finally got around to trying it out. Of course I've played it at the arcades and found it very entertaining and when I saw it for the Dreamcast I just had to pick it up. Now my problem is with the controller. I generally can't stand playing shooters with a controller instead of a gun so my question is can you use a special gun for this game?

My lightguns don't work for Silent Scope and one of my friends said there is a lightgun out there somewhere for it. After looking for a little while I didn't come across one or any information about it so I'm currious if it really does exist.

Thanks!

Nope, no DC SS gun. You'll have to make do with the pad.

There is a special lightgun sniperrifle for silent scope, but only for xbox.

Actually...
People say that the Treamcast light gun seems to work with Silent Scope. Although, it may be that it's just a gun shaped regular controller that uses the trigger for an A button. I've never tried it, so I couldn't TELL YA. I'm just giving a heads up.

I've heard that the game works with the Dreamcast mouse. You might want to look into that, as the PS2 version plays like a dream with a USB mouse.

Ya, anything besides using a D-pad would be nice. I can't stand playing shooters of this nature like that. I don't understand why they didn't make it so you COULD use a basic lightgun. I'm sure there could have been at least a special scope gun made for it. There's many accessories that ended up beind designed just for one game, why not this great port too? I'll try and find a DC mouse.

I could've swore there was a Silent Scope rifle for the DC... But it only came out in Japan... I could swear I remember seeing one somewhere. It was like a translucent green... Or maybe that was the PS2 one. This was before the Xbox was even released..

Oh well, guess I was wrong :embarrassed:

Still, I have SS on the DC and it plays surprisingly well with the regular controllers. Not as fluid or percise, of course. But it still plays quite well. Honestly, I like the DC version better than the arcade version, because you don't have to depend on your perephiral vision. You have a view of all your targets at once.

If there was - and it's anything like playing the XBox version with a gun - then it's absolutely terrible. You have to turn the brightness WAY the hell up for the gun to register in the dark areas of the screen. And even when you do that, the control is sloppy and sluggish. It's even worse than playing with an analog stick.

Well, I was hoping there would be a well adapted gun that somehow works far better than what you're telling us davidbrit2. I really like the arcade version and that's why I was so currious.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed in the light gun support. Mind you, I tried it with the Mad Catz gun and not the official Silent Scope light rifle, but as far as I know, they function exactly the same. If anybody has tried using the official gun, I'd like to know if it was any better (I kind of doubt it).

The problem with trying to use a light gun with Silent Scope is that the arcade controller isn't a light gun - it's just a big analog stick shaped like a gun. You can't get the necessary precision from just reading the scan on the monitor with a light gun.

Have any of you tried System Link yet with Silent Scope 2, for the PS2?

I still need to buy a second copy of this game to try it out.
