The Top 100 NES Games Project - WE GOT 100! VOTE ON THEM!

Like my 2600 collection, I intend on collecting the top 100 NES games, based upon fun factor.

I've done some research, and the best I've been able to find is the top 20.

Even searching these forums, I haven't had much luck.

Remember, if a game is suggested three times, it gets added to the list of nominees below, then, once 100 games are nominated, voting will commence.

PLEASE SPECIFY THE PRODUCER ON VARIANTS SUCH AS TETRIS.

Personal preference. I was playing Duck Hunt upon the release of the NES, so it's always going to be remembered fondly by me. I imagine I'm not alone.

While games like Hogans Alley, Freedom Force, and Gumshoe may have been superior light gun games (in concept anyway), sometimes the original still shines brighter.

Personally, I'd pick Safari Hunt over any Zapper game on the NES anyway.

I'd also like to nominate Robocop, a very underrated side-scrolling action game.

Strider also deserves a nomination. No, it wasn't the arcade version, but it was a damn fine game in its own right.

I would agree with any game here except the following.

Deathbots- truly aweful gameplay
Faxanadu- an incredible idea and great world to explore marred by horrid control and aweful collision detection.

Rygar- same as above

Metal Gear and TMNT II same as Faxanadu

Bomberman- yeah it started the series but it isn't that great to begin with, the sequel is better in every aspect.

I'll second the nomination for Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu, it's one of the top Hudson Soft games for the NES.

I once had a similar goal myself, top 50 NES, then top 100.. now I might go for 150. There's too many solid games to exclude, especially when a game that never got a sequel is potentially bumped off because of an entire series (Castlevania, Megaman). They're "classic" for a reason - the concept is that these are timeless topics that should continue to build over time.
