I have a question for you--since I am relatively new to being A DC owner, what game in your opinion best utilizes the DC's power?? Im talking quality of game, and graphics etc. etc.?! I am just curious, because I want to get and play the best of the best for the DC, to see what it can do. I have heard before that Soul Caliber is the best graphics-wise,you all agree??
:hmm:

Soul Calibur would be my choice. check it out with a monitor and VGA adapter... looks too good to be true.

Either Ikaruga or Street Fighter 3 Third Strike.

Soul Calibur does look damn nice though.

Half-Life showcases it pretty darn well.

While I agree with some of the obvious titles mentioned here, I also believe that Jet Set Radio deserves some attention. The first time that anyone saw that, they were floored. It was in all the magazines in Japan and Sega revolutionized graphics with it.... It's paved the way for a comic book / anime style revival.

There's so much going on in the game when you play it, so much detail and style... it gets my vote, but I am a JSR super-fan.

The game is very difficult, and I haven't gone very far in it, but solely in terms of sound & graphics, Echo is astounding! Especially viewed through the VGA box on a good monitor.

I gotta go with Ikaruga also. It's a jaw dropper.

Also, since no one else has mentioned it, Virtual On is amazing as well. Rock solid 60 FPS, fast as lightening, no popup, lots of eyecandy. And the DC is not even breaking a sweat! Ha!

(Plus it's a rocking game!)

Here's my suggestions. These are pretty easy to find, too. These might not tax the unseen powers of the hardware, but they show what a great visual this thing is capable of. Whatever you do, make sure you get a VGA breakout box. The Dreamcast actually has a VGA output, so it doesn't look like you're using a crummy upscan converter.

Giga Wing 2 - This will showcase multi sprite mania superimposed over a 3D rendered scene, all at 60 FPS. It's also one hell of a blast with four players.
Phantasy Star Online - The use of color is absolutely stunning.

You should be able to find Chu Chu Rocket very cheap, and it's an AMAZING multi-player game. Easily the most frantic and uncomfortable (in a good way) multiplayer game ever made. Plus, it's got a one player logic-puzzle game which is very well done. Easily five-star title.

Another good one to get is Bomberman Online, which again, shouldn't cost you too much money. It's Bomberman lol, enough said.

well id say soul caliber as well.....i know that Blue Stinger's gfx were pretty lame and the story line was lame for an action/adventure/horror game i really enjoyed playing it! :D

would have to agree with the ones above. revisiting soul calibur again. it's sort of like pringles-"once you pop you can't stop." one of the best sound tracks i would say is crazy taxi. the games suffers from pop up, but it's one hell of a distraction. also like space channel five (plastic looking graphics, but good sounds).

Great, now I want a can of Pringles. :-)

I forgot to mention Sonic Adventure. The blistering speed is certainly worth witnessing.

My vote would be Crazy Taxi. It was the second game I bought for the DC (the first being NBA Showtime). When I first saw it running, it was unlike any other game I'd seen on a home system. It does have draw-in and clipping issues, but it is fast and the character animation is realistic. The sloping street on the original map made the game feel like a rollercoaster drop! In fact, I prefer the DC version to the GameCube version, even though the GC version doesn't have those pop-up issues.

Sonic Adventure and Soul Reaver get my picks.
