Nice, but did you made the video from the computer or from the TV?

I want to make a video on how to do things on the computer, you have a program that does it?

Recorded from my TV and Sega-CD setup. I use a pinnacle USB capture device to send the direct-feed video from the Sega-CD to the laptop and record it directly as an .mpg.

I think FRAPS is the ticket there, F17.

I believe I tried FRAPS before, and it won't record emulators. Besides, there's nothing like the real thing!

Nice work. I really enjoyed that. The Prince of Persia voice overs are classic.

The Prince of Persia voice overs are just weird. The Japanese anime graphics doesn't fit the theme of the game at all, and the voice actors are just odd. :/

If you want to do a direct capture from an emulator, you're going to have to use a custom build of Gens (http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/forum/viewtopic.php?t=316) that supports AVI writing. It's no Kega, but it gets the job done for most stuff. Let's hope Steve Snake implments AVI recording at some point in the future so that we never have to use anything but Kega Fusion :(

I've used the modified Gens in the past to record videos from Snatcher and Sonic CD and they came out pretty good, just don't forget to turn off the cd drive status lights or else everyone is going to laugh at you. (I forgot :( )

Also, don't forget to use the null transform filter in VirtualDub to crop the black out and then use the resize filter to bring it back out to 4:3. Throw lots of bits at it (1200kbps for 640x480 just to play it safe!), and you should also look at finding an MP4 encoding solution that works right for you, because it's quite a nice format (xvid in avi is so...hacky)

FRAPS is generally a pretty damn horrible and unusable solution to recording videos in any emulator. If an emulator doesn't support some method of writing to AVI, you may as well just grab some decent capture hardware and grab it from an original machine.

Well, I assumed that when he said "a video on how to do things on the computer", F17 wasn't necessarily referring to emulators. I mean, FRAPS can get stuff right from the Windows desktop, right?

But what is the problem with using it with emulators? Does writing the AVI just slow things down too much?

Got it, I have both Sherlock Holmes I & II so I'll put both in the queue for recording. ;)

How did you get the arcade intro for SF?

Great stuff, brings back alot of good memories.

But you need the intro video to Rise of the Dragon.

"Hey there friend, you got a good time for me?"

How did you get the arcade intro for SF?

Well, I have the all the arcade boards, but it is quite a chore to record directly from an arcade PCB...so for these SF videos I recorded them from Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for Xbox. The game has this special menu which contains bonus content from all the original SF arcade boards.

I have it up there now, but it's just the intro credits before it gets into the gameplay. I need to re-record that one to make it longer and get the first bit of gameplay in there.

Sure, I can make sure to do that! I know it's better to see a bit of gameplay in there too if possible, as long as the video doesn't get too big (there is a 100mb limit). Some of these Sega-CD intros are quite lengthy so I'll capture as much as I can. It took me a while to get the Popful Mail video ready since it's by far the longest one up (almost 8 mins.) and I had to edit out the dead space (blanks during loading) to make it barely fit the file limit.

Thanks for looking and be sure to subscribe to my videos if you want to be notified when I post new ones.

Here are the intros I'll record next:

Sherlock Holmes I & II
Rise of the Dragon (edit-longer)
Lunar Eternal Blue

Any more for now? If not, I'll just pick some other games at random like I've been doing.

Very nice stuff there. It brings back a lot of memories. Back when Sega CD was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. Still love the sucker. :)

Sega CD rocks! I've never owned one but I was planning on getting one as my next system. Unfortunately the Neo Geo cabinet that I just bough has a stinky Mobo w/ sound problems so I'll have to buy one of those first
