I know there's a NTSC -> PAL converter for N64, but I can't seem to find a PAL -> NTSC converter. I just want to try some N64 PAL games out (e.g. Bust a move 3).

Also, while reading about PAL n64's (since if a converter doesn't exist I'll just buy a pal n64 and get some power converter) I came across some stuff that says the conversions are slower than the ntsc versions (e.g. mario kart & wave race). Is this true?

I believe the Passport 3 has a converter in it along with a cheat code generator.

And yes it's true, games like Wave Race, Mario Kart 64, and F Zero are 17% slower than the NTSC versions... designed to run at 50 frames per second rather than 60

I have a Pal -> NTSC converter. I got it so I could play Sin and Punishment, which I still have yet to buy. Try searching for an "Adaptor Wonder." That's what mine is called.

But S&P never got a PAL release, you won't need a converter. Just get rid of the cart slot tabs.

Strange thing about Mario Kart though: the game absolutely chugs along, the 17% difference is very, very noticable. Crap PAL conversion. Except for DK's Jungle Parkway level. It seems to run really fast, faster than the NTSC version!?

In fact my mate sent his PAL N64 back in disgust after playing Mario Kart and Waverace! I had a Japanese N64 and another chum has a US one. We'd been playing the untainted versions of the game, then we got to sample the 'delights' of early PAL n64 games. That N64 was back in it's boxed and swapped for a US one soon as he could.
