I am looking for info on the link technology used in the old, and new gameboys. I am especially interested in the data rate of these technologies. I would like to look into the possibility of some sort of computer interface device for the gameboy, perhaps with an online play option. If something like this already exists, then please inform me.

How well do you think the gameboy can handle latency? It may freak.

Well, that's part of what I would like to know. If nothing else there could be a program to replicate inputs to the gameboy. For example, in a pokemon game, create a pokemon of your choosing and then "trade" the computer for it.

I've thought of the same thing as well. I'm very curious if it's possible to make an adapter to hook up the link cable to serial or parallel port, and have that data sent over the net via TCP/IP to another person's gameboy. Would be a fantastic thing if someone could do it.
