On my scandinavian PAL copy of Kirby's Adventure, there are slight differences to the music in Vegetable Valley. Wish I could post the mp3's I've made for comparison, but I find no way to do that..

Anyway, could everybody with a PAL copy put it in your NES and listen to that song, and compare it to the NTSC NSF-file? I am curious if these differences apply to all PAL copies.

Oh, lots of places do free file hosting these days, y'know. There's a huge list at http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=80703 .

Thanks for the info! I tried MSN spaces, but there you couldn't host music obviously. Anyway, I'll try to get those mp3's up somehow soon.

Well, here they are:

Vegetable Valley (US version) (http://rapidshare.de/files/19755052/NES_-_Kirby_s_Adventure__US_.mp3.html)

Vegetable Valley (European version) (http://rapidshare.de/files/19755079/NES_-_Kirby_s_Adventure__EU_.mp3.html)

The difference is obvious enough that I didn't have to download the first mp3 for comparison. I wonder why it was changed. Perhaps the original version too closely resembled a song that Eurpoeans in particular would recognize--like a national anthem. Or, perhaps someone just thought it sounded better that way.

I can barely tell.

Now, which version does the French-Canadian version use?

Interesting. I like the US version better but maybe I'm biased. Kirby rules!

Has anybody been able to check their PAL version for the differences? Jajaja?

Hmmm...dunno, but changing game music in regional releases is not uncommon. It's happenned on a buttload of games, but two that come to mind are NES/Fami Rygar and SegaCD/JP MegaCD Sonic CD.

Now, that's interesting... and weird.

Of course, my French PAL copy of the game sounds exactly like your Scandinavian one. I can't see why they bothered changing the music, except that the PAL version sounds better to me. But that's certainly because I spent so many hours on Kirby's Adventure.

I'd love to read an explanation for that.

I've just bought Kirby 64 yesterday. It's the best NES platformer on the N64. It's just a shame it's in 3D, it would have looked (and aged) much better in 2D.
