I know that the PSP's music features support sub-folders, because the latest firmware upgrade allows you to use album art, and this new feature requires sub folders.

But I don't really know, since I don't use the PSP to play music.

I've used my PSP for music and here's what I know: you can only have one level of folders underneath the "Music" folder, or the PSP won't recognize it. I name my folders with artist/album like this: "Danko Jones - Sleep Is The Enemy" If I tried to have an album folder underneath an artist folder, the PSP doesn't see it.

(FYI: My PSP runs firmware 2.0)

Cant help you with your question but if your PSP can run homebrew, you might want to check this MP3 app out for it. Very slick interface and and easy to use. Only drawback is that you can't play mp3's bigger than 12mb, but still...
